I stumbled across this video of an old VW bus being rescued from the woods. It is a very nicely done video, and there are some more similar rescue videos from the same group on You Tube. The VW guys are about as crazy and dedicated as some of the T guys, when it comes to saving the old cars. I think it would be great to do a video like this of saving an old model T.
Warning, there is no model T content in this video, but it is all hobby/car related ....

To add a little bit of model T subject, Here is another video with a model T about the 9 minute mark. The video shows "first starts" after many years of neglect.....

A VW collector/restorer 1968 till 2004 when we moved from our home in NH. Mainly the commercial line of VW's. The logistics of getting our stuff to Florida was more than we wanted to deal with. You are right in regards to the enthusiasm. They aren't making that old rust anymore so you save what you can. Once we were settled in our new home, we sought out the holy grail, a 54 Samba (23 window sunroof deluxe) but with prices into 6 figures we had to pass. We bought a few T's instead and met a whole bunch of nice T folks
That was interesting. Glad for the subtitles.
Pretty cool.
Anybody know what country that was in? France? Belgium?
Lux?
Looking at their site, I believe it is France
Somewhat T-related since they hand cranked the engine.....
I've got one of each.1926 and 1974}
I own 2 VW Beetles, 1956 and 1970, along with A '25 Model T. I appreciate both of them for advanced design (at the time), high quality of materials and simplicity. Thus, in some way they more alike than not.
@4:43 THUMB OVER CRANK-- SACRE BLEU!
Gary, I had a '62 Samba 23 window- it needed some work, but it had all the trim, even the jail bars and cooling louver strips. It had a 1600 single port and the middle seat was still there. You couldnt beat that full-length sunroof for stirring up the interior dust! I sold it in '81 for 500.oo----- I'll see if I can find a picture of it, and the other 4 pre-67 type IIs I had at that time.
I drove a ‘70 bus for several years powered by a corolla 1600 engine.
I got it smog checked with the VW engine to transfer title to me. That was before they required a recheck every two years.
When the bus got pretty raggedy I put the engine in a ‘64 split windshield which turned out to be. 65. It had to be smog checked so I just parked it for a few years.
A week after I gave it away they changed the smog laws so it was exempt!
It's been my Op that VW bugs and Model T's go together. I had a (along with the bugs I have have had from 56 to 67) a 1962 23 window like Dale W's. It's just something about both cars. Well done video.
To the top !
I guess our segway from VW's to T's was a natural one :-) Would love one of each and while bugs are plentiful here, T's are not Small sampling as we could only store 3 at the house plus our daily drivers.
In addition to my T I have a VW-based Berry Mini-T dune buggy, together they fill the #2 and #3 slots in my ultimate dream car garage. Number one by the way is a Porsche 356 and even the replicas of those are out of my league so I guess I’ll have to just keep getting more T’s and VWs...
