I just bought a chassis for parts and it's sporting one of those accessory engine cradle/support thingamabobs.

Is this a worthwhile thing to move over to my 24 Touring?

Are you referring to one of those Engine Jock Straps?

Yes...I guess you could call it that.

Definitely a nice accessory, i love mine. Adjust it so it just takes some of the weight off the mounts, but doesn't change the drive-line geometry.

Around my neck of the woods, those were referred to as "belly bands".
And I agree with John.
Especially back in the days of rough roads that broke crankcase arms.
Indeed a nice accessory.

Thanks for the input.

I'm leaning towards using it.

Those are a temporary fix. Use it if you wish, but why now fix you pan correctly?

I don't know that there's anything wrong with my pan Larry.

I’ve installed one of those accessory belly straps on all my Model Ts just for the insurance they provide. 90 year old rivets and braze are likely to fail. Sure the roads we drive on nowadays are much better but our speeds are much faster too. And all my crankcase ‘ears’ are in good shape too. I even cut an amount of large truck thick rubber rock shields into a donut to insert between the pan and belly strap.

People really should try reading the thread before they post.

I run a belly band and like George said above, it's good insurance (as well as being a neat period accessory).
