While rebuilding the front end, I'm replacing the hardware on my 1924 Touring's wishbone.
I am new to Model ts and new to auto mechanics.
Before I replace the hardware, can someone with much more knowledge tell me if the ball is worn to the point of needing to be fixed or replaced?
I hope the pictures I post are helpful.
Thank you,
Gene

That one looks pretty well worn, but you'll need to measure it to find out how much. They measured 1-1/4" diameter when new. Measure the height, because that's where they wear the most. Chances are the socket is worn as well.
That ball should be 1 1/4" in diam. They do make shims to take up wear, but yours looks to be in need of repair or replacement. Langs sells a ball end to be welded on to the wishbone. They also have NOS ball sockets to go on the engine pan. this would require removing the pan to replace. Without precise measurements, no one can tell you for sure what you need. Some guys also weld up the ball then grind / file it back to shape and size.
Better wishbones than yours are everywhere. Get a 1-2" mike and locate a good one. You may also wish to find a better cap. The socket in you pan can also be welded up an re-machined back to standard. There are previous posts or articles on how to do this.
