I have no experience with body panels on the T Truck cab. A friend has a 25 T Truck (closed) that his 99 year old father left him. The doors have been removed and replaced with wooden 1/2 doors. He would like to put full doors back on it. Are truck doors specific to this application or will another body style door fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Often discarded and hard to find items.
You could try here. https://vintagecarsandparts.com/
I ve either heard or read somewhere that Ford 28-29 hardtop pickup doors will fit the TT enclosed Cab. If I read it on the I’Net then it’s true ;o)
George, You may be correct. There is an outfit in Castlemaine, Victoria which makes doors for the A model pickups. They are exported to the USA. We visited the facility on a T model tour I was on. It was mentioned that the same door was used on a T model, but as we never had closed cab TT s in Australia, I have nothing to go on to verify this.
If you Google the Rod suppliers they should come up.
Allan from down under.
George, As far as I know they will not fit. The 26-27 Coupe doors will fit the 28-29 Model A pickup. As far as the TT closed cab, I'm pretty sure you are stuck trying to find a pair which as stated earlier is like finding hen's teeth. - Matt
Here's a cab with doors on e-Bay. It's in Joplin, Missouri. $1150.00 and you pick up. The rest of the cab could be sold to recover some money. It's listed as a 1927 Ford cab. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MODEL-T-truck-cab-HOT-RAT-ROD-FORD-FLATHEAD-V-8/1231662 66758?hash=item1cad481586:g:VG8AAOSw~gRVoyYn
Late cab with the oval style switch opening.
That cab sucks for that money! IMO.
And I thought I had poor stuff here. Yikes.
Interesting thread! Hope your friend finds some decent doors.
:-)
Duey I agree but if you are in a don't have situation....I'm a retired autobody repairman so I would look at a lot more junk. Ha
Matthew, I did a Google MTFCA search and found a November 2010 thread in which this was discussed. Our Forum Friend Hal Tucker used his real name back then - Harold - and said “The 28-29 1/4 Ton closed cab pickup doors are almost a direct switch with the TT closed cab doors....But the Model A pickup uses window cranks and the TT uses window straps. easy and common swap.” I think this is where I read it. Don’t know how to attach that thread but if you Google: ‘MTFCA interchangeable parts, T’s and A’s’ you can follow the discussion. How ‘bout it Hal; you still feel the same?
Try Model T Haven in Iola, Kansas: Mark Freimiller. He has a website.
I had a 28 AA and it had curved doors that were like the model T Coupe. I still have the Coupe.
George,
Fred is correct. If you look at the 28-29 Model A pick-up cab they curve inward at the bottom. The doors have the same curve. The TT steel cab is straight up and down. That's why the two won't interchange. - Matt
Link to Model T Haven is the 2nd post. That would be as good a place to start as any
Contacted Model T Haven with no luck. I will keep looking. I may have to purchase a complete cab that has re-buildable doors. Thanks all.
Kim,
I have a closed cab 25. The doors for this cab are specific to this truck. No others will fit. Hard to find, yes, but I am sure there are some still out there.
