Will a 26/27 hoghead work on an earlier tranny with narrow bands? Can I swap the narrower pedals to the 26/27 hogs=head ? The only difference I can see is a bulge on the right side of the 26/27/ or are there fundamental differences I am not aware of? thanks

No the center line of the brake pedal to drum is different between the two. The 26/27 was moved back to line up with the center line of the wider band and drum.

The brake pedal axle is moved to the rear to be in center of the wider 26/27 brake drum, so the 26/27 hogshead can't be used on earlier transmissions :-(
(But an earlier hogshead could be used on a 26/27 transmission, though the narrow brake band would only use a part of the wider drum.)

What is the difference in widths of the narrow and the later wider brake drums?
Iím picking up,a transmission in a couple of days for a 1927, seems like a good thing to know.

The early transmissions have the same width drums, the later transmissions have one drum that is visibly wider than the others.
