I just picked up a Hassler shock advertising sign that has a pick of a ford front axle on it (pics coming soon. Got me thinking what else is out there for T related signage?

I have a pretty rough condition Lincoln/Ford/Fordson dealership sign on the front of my garage. Those 3 brands on one sign should date it 1922-1927.

Did you borrow that garage for the photo shoot?

Doesn't look dirty enough for a Model T garage!

Derek, I don't think I have ever seen your garage that clean?

Looks like there's room in there for at least one more T, maybe two!

Took me many years to locate this Ford gasket board - I have several other makers variations for T's also.

To answer the questions above, when I bought my house, there were 2 detached heated garages. The small one is 18x28 and was converted to an apartment so it has a kitchen and full bathroom. I ripped out a wall, and use it as a garage again. That garage stays pretty clean most of the time, as I don't do much work in there.

The bigger 40x50 garage, where I do all my work, is a total mess. Not totally off-topic, there's a Model T hiding under the Chevelle on the left of the picture. :-) A little organization would go a long way in there, but I've been busy trying to get the Chevelle on the right ready for race season.

Here is a neat sign from my collection. Bought it by accident! It was tacked on the back of an old wood tool cabinet I bought at an auction several years ago. The cabinet was full of old Model T tools. When the guys at the auction turned around to carry it into the room full of "sold" items after I'd bought it, there it was. Don't think anyone else noticed it. I didn't know it was there until after bidding ended. Think it's quite early. The garage the tool cabinet came from opened in the teens.

Geez have tried three times now to upload the pic-it's properly resized, the upload option tells me it's complete and uploaded, the info shows ok but when I select Preview/Post Message it disappears! Trying again.

Ok, I'm no amateur at this stuff - forum is not cooperating right now so you'll just have to imagine this great sign. I'm going to have a drink and let the PC cool down (me too!)

Ahhh - I knew some bagpipe music and the suitable accompanying beverage would help. Don't know how or way but this time it seems to have gone ok. Have a few other items I'd like to post later so will be playing the game again sometime over the weekend.

Derek, that's not a mess but a busy shop. :-)
Ron-Steve... Cool.
Terry, I was gonna say that sign would look good up here in Minnesota but I see you're in Virginia so the effect is pretty much the same. :-)
"It's a long way to Tipperary"
Nice sign Matt! Some Go-JO rubbed in and then cleaned off might bring back some luster to that cool cut sign. :-) If ya need a permanent place to display it? Contact Greg F. It would fit right in at the Corliss bldg. ;-)

I'm always on the lookout, but i fear all the good stuff will never be available due to it being so collectible. I did have a dream that i got this sign at a great price, then i woke up. :-)

Terry Bond, It must have been the bagpipe music made it work! There are those that say the sound frightens away evil spirits. Me? I just love the sound! Gets the blood moving.

I don't think I have any model T era Ford advertising. I do have a couple Studebaker and Paige items. I really do need to give those Studebaker items to a friend of mine.

Here is a photo of the Geetings garage in Manchester Ohio. Not sure of the year, perhaps early teens?

Nice Hassler sign, Matt - appears as though it might have been used to "patch" up a hole or something - too bad ! I had taken a photo of a good one (same sign) and had it reproduced.

Here is another interesting piece I found in an old garages on the Eastern shore of Virginia several years ago. It's cardboard and not in the best of condition, but have never seen another one. I think we can safely say it's a 1914 item.

Terry,
The Ford Weekly Purchase Plan started in 1923.
To save weekly for a Ford you could obtain a locked money box from the Ford dealers which resembled a book.

In it front and back were pages showing the different models available as well as columns to write down the amount of coins you were placing in the money box slot each week.

Terry, I have a similar cardboard sign, I was told that they were trolley signs that lined the ceiling above the windows of the city trolley system. Mine came out of the Boston area and the gentleman who had it also had one for “Good Year shoe soles available at” with space for a stencil, and a few other less interesting ones.

We are in the process of moving and it’s packed away, but once we get moved and settled I will add a picture for you.

For some reason I thought the purchase plan started earlier. The references I checked do show 23 is about the beginning though. I've got one of the Ford bank-books, they seem to be hard to find in decent condition.

This is the trolley sign similar to Terry’s above that was packed away while we moved. It was used and is slightly scuffed but until Terry posted a picture of the one he had I had not seen any other one in many years of looking.
