I found this in an old auction box of goodies. Would this be for checking quality of spark with the tool mounted right in the head? I wish the wording on the can was in better shape.
That's a tool for setting the timing on a Model T.
Dan, Very nice thank you. The box and directions are about as valuable as the tool. Is there much merit in the tool or is it just a gizmo since we listen to the engine so much with timing anyway? Perhaps it helps set the start timing with the amount it would be retarded. Many of the timing linkages have been bent so much over the years. It would be neat to have the full instructions.

Open the Stevens Catalog pdf and on page 39 is the timing tool.
Many of these old ones have the little ball on the stick missing, and the gaskets to keep the ball up went at TDC on compression stroke.
