I am just about done with this installation, which was very hard for me. Bud at RMB Co. was most helpful as well as the forum posts. I still have some questions:
1. I have just a small clearance on the easy-slider fork before it activates. Is that right and could someone post a picture of these pasts?
2. I have the parking adjusted to about 3-4 clicks to lock up, OK?
3. I can't seem to get the .020 clearance on the RMB shoes they seem sort of egg shaped. Will they become more round with use.
In my installs, won't dwell on the measurements too much. Just fit them up to work well, and not drag a bunch at first. They will work in some in use, easy to re-adjust if the drum gets too warm to touch.
An outside drum brake only works on the center and rear portion of the forward rolling drum anyway.
Be sure you have the T low pedal engagement, foot brake and free neutral good to begin with.
In action of the parking brake, that should engage the R-M also, as you haul back on the lever a bit past neutral, so you have that working in unison with the Ford parking brake.
This is the 'gap' am running after install, and many miles, works great.
That would be rear and center for outside brakes with rear anchor, but modern RM don't work that way.
Thanks, I think I got it. I'll drive this weekend.
