I was looking at the Lang's catalog for the NRS steering wheel nut. Are they the same as the early Model T? I seem to remember looking at a Model S and the nut had a different shape, more of a dome with a platform under it. does anyone have a photo of one?
Thanks
I have two NRS steering columns. The first is in as found condition.
It has a flat topped steering spider nut and I don't know if it was filed down in the distant past or that's the way it was. The chassis for this column has running board brackets, so it was either an R or an S.
The other column has a top hat style nut. Sorry about the slightly blurry photo - it's in the dark attic of my workshop.
Hope this helps.
Rich C.
Thanks Rich.
The second one is the one I saw on a car recently.
I sent you another message too.
Herb,
I must say, the second of Rich's photos shows a nut unlike any I have seen on an NRS before. I don't believe it's authentic.
The nut in the first photo looks like an authentic NRS nut, but with the crown/dome filed flat. The NRS nuts have a fairly shallow crown.
