I was just wondering is anyone here had done business with https://vintagecarsandparts.com/

Just would like to know if this business has a good reputation.

I am in the process of looking for a Model T and have been considering getting a project one to restore. I understand that I will end up probably with more money in the car than its over all value. I want to work on one with my own hands and have that satisfaction of doing a restoration and a bit of pride when driving the car.

They are a great outfit. The guy knows Model T’s and is very helpful. He has a huge grave yard and I think he can relate to every level of T enthusiast.

William, 2 years ago I bought one of Mark's worst cars. I chose it because, like you, I wanted to work on it. I'm driving it now, and yes, I've got more in it than it's worth. But I'm happy because I know what I've got. It has a Scat crank, a Chaffin cam, sleeved cylinders, a flat tube radiator, bronze thrust washers in the rear axle, and nice tight kingpins. It's a 19 touring, and I painted it green with black fenders because i contend that paint is a period accessory. Although I can't sell it for what I've invested, I could never buy one that would give me this much confidence.

Dan Hatch,
I got your e-mail. I am only interested in the '26-'27 Touring. Good luck with your sale!

With plenty of questions and some pictures it is easy to purchase a part for a fair price from these folks based on my experience from about 6 years ago doing a mail-order purchase.

Note to those planning on a personal visit:

If you are planning on dropping by during business hours, DON'T unless you call first and verify that someone will be there. I just finished up a 6K mile trip across the country calling ahead and meeting "T" folks all over the place. When entering Kansas, I realized that I could take a large detour and go through Iola on my trip. I arrived with a 24 foot empty trailer ready to buy parts...found the grounds neat and clean, doors to one building open, but did not enter, and heard the radio playing from inside another, closed building. But no one was there, nor at the home next door (which may or may not have been associated with the place). Knocking on doors and walls of buildings yielded nothing. After 30 minutes of waiting for someone to show up, I gave up and left with a still-empty trailer. It was a very costly error on my part, in time and fuel to not have called ahead.

Scott, They were probably gone into town for lunch. I've been there several times and at lunch time pretty much every one including any one else who happens to be there go into town for lunch and with all the visiting and lie swapping it can turn into a long lunch

Dale, you are probably right. We were there from about 12:30 to 1:15. If I had found a note or any indication that they were at lunch, with a time they expected to be back, that would have helped.

As I had many miles to go, and no idea when anyone would show up (and I didn't have their phone # with me, and it was nowhere to be found posted at the property) it ended up being a bust. I'll know better next time.
