Can anyone tell me who can re-rivet a 1912 rear axle housings? I used to use The Tin Shed but need to find another vendor.
Thanks

bigflatsrivet.com....But, if you want to be more precise and better control the geometry of your axle housing-to-differential housing matchup, I’d use #8 bolts, lock washers and nuts. Clean up the mating surfaces real well and use RTV sealant. Bolt it up using the 24 bolts/nuts. Install the innards and ensure tolerances are correct. Now separate the 2 housings and turn a #8 bolt head to appear to be a rivet head using a hand drill and bench grinder. Tighten that first remachined bolt real good with red loctite and do the same for the bolt opposite it. Did it 11 years ago on my ‘14 runabout with no leaks or premature Hyatt bearing wear......Or order rivets from Big Flats (NY), heat ‘em and bang away...

George's method works well. I cut screwdriver slots in the threaded end of my 'rivet' head bolts so I could hold the bolt as I tightened them.

I think the question is, does anyone know someone who does this work?

I’d send the housings to Ross Lilleker...

Whatever you do, dont braze. I've seen too many warped 1909-1912 housings

Where are you located? There's nothing in your profile.

Which rivets, the ones at the differential or the ones at the brake plates?

The ones at the brake plates are easily done with one person and I can help you do those.

Musegh, You didn't post your location after your name so we can give you the options you are requesting.

If you used Larry at the Tin Shed you must live here in SoCal?

There are several options close by here in OC.

I like George's method.

Best to have an alignment jig so setting rhe rivets keeps things square. Using bolts temporarily to keep alignment while you set one rivet at a time is also good practice. I have an alignment gig but am busy the next month or two. Shipping to CA isn't cheap either.
