I’m removing a leaky, noisy, messy water pump from my “new” 1921 Touring. I got the new manifold output fitting, hoses, bolts and gasket from Lang’s and it all looks good but I forgot to order a new fan belt. I got the current belt from Napa auto parts and it worked great. But without the water pump, I’d be guessing at what new length of belt I need to get. Any ideas? Also, I’m assuming I need to also remove the thermostat from the top inlet.

Jeff

I had enough adjustment at the fan to get there, when I took my pump off. Same belt...

Langs list the belts by year.

Yup. Remove the thermostat. Run a string around the pulleys and measure it's length. Remember to allow for adjustment.

Tim,
That’s too simple. I wanted something more complicated!!

Ok, wind the string around twice, measure the length, then divide by two. :-)

Mark. I think he wanted something a little more complicated than dividing by two.

Wrap a string around about 50 times, tie the ends together, and forget about getting a fan belt.
