Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2018: Proof that Model Ts are slow
Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Fred Dimock, Newfields NH, USA on Friday, November 09, 2018 - 08:21 pm:

I finally have modern proof that Model T Fords are slow.
It takes the MTFoA a long time to load on my iPad and computer.

The Ford Barn and other web sights I frequent load fast, but it retakes a long time for the MTFCoA sight to load.
The only thing I can think of is that T’s are slow and the web sight is the same.

I am on a 250 MPs connection so I can understand why the dialup guys are having a problem.

At least it gives me time to refill my wine glass between sight requests.

If it remains this slow I may have to switch to bourbon or moonshine which is more likely a Model A spirit.

The Model A comment is to establish a Ford connection so I am not banned for life or longer.

Bottom line - it is time for the web sight to to move to the current century if we expect to appeal to younger folks.

I am now on Verizon jet pack and it does not load any faster with it than dialup. Nor do other sites unless there is video involved or flashing things.
Alot of it is the speed the server can send the info.
In other words, the size of the spoon putting soup in your bowel is bigger at another place.

Funny - I live in a rural area and my best download speeds are between 2 & 3 megs. The MTFCA site downloads just fine, click and it's there.

Fred - too much Peanut Butter & Jelly :-)

Seriously...clear your computer history...too much material in your cache...too many cookies and other seldom used "things".

Good Luck.

PS - the speed of my old gang was inverse to the amount of spirits consumed :-(

Shucks I feel like I am on the internet super hwy now.I am not using my Hotspot at the moment,I am tethering from my new "smart" phone.I hate the phone but it is handy for the internet when i want to use it in the shop, truck, yard, where ever I can carry my laptop I can hook up to the net.You can get the net on this phone supposedly. But I git so mad poking at this thing I want to pitch it. I didn't want 1 but I was paying for "data" on my new phone plan and could not tether the flipphone I loved to my computer

Your Internet speed is very slow

Your Internet download speed is very slow. Web browsing should work, but videos could load slowly.

This is the fastest (and most reliable) website of the 21st century. Maybe it takes a perceived long time to load if you press "Last 7 days" search feature.

Here in central Texas it's 'click and its there'. Maybe it's a clicker issue in some areas.

I use my iPad for most of my web surfing and shut it off complete every few days thus the cash (I mean cache) is empty.
It matches my cash drawer.

I am wondering if electrons go slower when they enter cold New England.

It loads faster then my e-mail usually does!

Some things are a matter of perception. When I drive a T on the open road, it seems like a modern car going 100 mph, until someone passes me!

It depends a lot on what computer you are using and also what connection to internet you are using.

I like the format.

I only wish I had a stop button on my telephone.
Here on my desktop, when I reload, this late in the year, I hit the stop button as the posts are a mile long!
Lighting fast no matter how I use this site.
