I thought it would be a fantastic find. Instead, it's just a foundry, dang it !
What's wrong with finding a foundry? Just about illegal in WA. Dave in Bellingham,WA.
That's one of the many businesses that have dwindled through consolidation. Here we once had six grocery stores. Now it's just Dillons (Kroger) and Walmart. Three lumber yards have become one. Small towns of a few hundred people once had car dealers, and many had brick factories and foundries. The trend toward bigger and fewer, or just fewer, has been going on for a long time.
I'd be thrilled to find a foundry. DIdn't know any existed.
I was kinda fishing for some excitement over the foundry. The "founder" (pun intended) was a friend who started it on his home place over 20 years ago. In his gear up days he made some parts for me and we worked together on a couple of projects. I made a few patterns for him. When he built this facility and went "big time" he landed contracts for specialty hardware and got too busy to "play". He sold the concern several years ago and retried. I haven't gone in there in many years.
