I have a 1920 touring. I have the shelves that go on either side of the hood but am not sure how thick the wood was under the shelves. Can anyone tell me? Thanks
Lang's #4073. Note that one hole in each block is drilled at an angle and countersunk, for a reason.
Yes I have seen the pictures in the parts catalogs but was wondering how thick the blocks were. I was trying to make them myself but wasn't sure how thick a piece of would to use.
When I recently replaced mine they were too thick. When you mount the blocks into metal shelf they need to be level with the metal edges. Larry Smith advised me on that when I was having issues. worked like a charm. Thanks again Larry.
George, my take on the blocks is a little different. They DON'T need to be thinner than the edge of the shelf. If they are the metal shelf edge will rub on the fender skirt and squeak and cause rust when the paint wears off.
They are better if they are a little THICKER than the shelf edge. That way the shelf edge is a little isolated from the fender skirt and rubbing cannot occur.

Allen, when I tried the as is from the vendor, I couldn't mount the Radiator . Plus the mounting kit had springs that were too long also. Had to use the old springs and plain the blocks down so they level with the lips . Things went together perfectly after that.
Just saying what worked for me with Larry Smiths recommendation. Other people here have had the same issues with new blocks, just to thick here.
George, I learned of the spring problem some time ago. As well as being too long, they are way too strong as well. I substitute them with others from a parts shop selection bin.
