Model T Ford in MultiMedia

This is the beginning of a whole new medium for communicating the love and the nostalgia for the Model T Ford via the Internet. Recent advances in the technology for transmitting audio and video over the narrow bandwidths of household telephone lines have made it possible to enjoy clear, crisp sound and reasonably clear video over the Internet.

I have been studying the technologies involved in encoding the audio and video signals, compressing the digital files to a small fraction of the original size and setting the files up for playback from web pages. The technology of choice is that offered by RealSystems and goes by the tradename RealAudioTM and RealVideoTM. This is currently being developed and used widely on the Internet.

The link below is an example of this technology. I will be expanding on this in the near future to include many more Model T sounds. Following that, I plan to develop some "slide shows" with changing still pictures and sound. Then I will create motion video with synchronized sound. This should be a lot of fun and will add a whole new dimension to the enjoyment of the Model T hobby worldwide over the Internet.

These sounds require a RealAudioTM player to be installed on your computer system. You will need the latest version of RealPlayer, Ver. 5.0. If you do not currently have a player, or if you do not yet have Ver. 5.0, you can download it free from their site. You will also need a Pentium class computer with at least a 28.8k modem. If you have any questions or problems in being able to play these sounds, consider posting on the Discussion Forum so other users can assist in responding.

These sounds are set up as streaming audio, so that they begin to play right after you click on the sound. (No long wait until the file downloads.)

Slide Show video of Ralph Zajicek's One Cylinder Model T Engine. Ralph cut out the middle of a standard Model T Engine, then machined and welded the front and back piece together to form a one cylinder engine. And guess what? It runs! This unique video shows Ralph starting up the engine and showing it off. Don't miss the ending - it's great as Ralph attempts to run the engine fast!
