At 3:04 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024, Richmond, Ind., will be shrouded in four minutes of complete darkness during the region’s first total solar eclipse since 1869.
This lunar phenomenon is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for auto enthusiasts.
Come together, celebrate community, and witness the spectacle at the Model T Museum!
The Model T Museum will host a tailgate party to view the total solar eclipse. This free public event will begin at 12 pm eastern and continue until 4 pm. The eclipse will begin at 1:45 pm and totality will occur at 3:04 pm.
Make this a once-in-a-lifetime memory with your friends and family and tailgate alongside other automotive enthusiasts in your vintage (or modern!) autos at the Museum’s prime viewing location in the center of Richmond, Ind. Bring lawn chairs, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages, and enjoy solar eclipse-themed educational activities throughout the Museum campus. Pre-registered tailgaters receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses, a gift bag, and the exclusive privilege to privately tour the Model T Museum from 11 am to 12 pm. Concessions will be available.

Tailgate spaces are $25 for one vehicle and four attendees. Additional attendees are $5 each.

Complete the experience by visiting the small businesses around the Model T Museum in the Historic Richmond Depot District! During the event, order something to-go from one of the many excellent restaurants within walking distance and picnic at the tailgate or pick up souvenirs at the Museum gift shop and the other boutiques and independent shops in the area. The Museum will offer additional Depot District-accessible parking at $25 a vehicle. This parking option does not include the tailgate benefits described above.
