I remember that there was considerable discussion of this photo a couple years back. Now if I could only remember what all was said about it.
The two men appear to be wearing military uniforms, for whatever that means. The pennants on the hood and back of the car seem to say "the PIONEER 20", for whatever that means. Zooming into the front of the car reveals one-piece spindles (used 1909 into early 1911), and I think a high radiator neck. The 1909 and 1910 models used a lower neck than the rest of the brass era radiators did. The higher neck showed up late in 1910, about the time that the '11 model year began production, however, as typical for Ford in those days, both styles may have been used for a short time.
Is this a speedster? Or a patrol vehicle used in Europe during the war? A remarkable photo nonetheless.
I do hope someone can identify the tractor (at that moment, set up as a stationary power source). Identification of the tractor might tell us where the photo was taken.
