Re: The cost of Model T travel
On my recent O-2-O Cross country trip I covered 4,275 miles and used 190 gallons of gas. That calculates out to a bit over 22 MPG, In the Rockies, 7,000 - 8,200 feet above sea level, I was able to “lean out” my Holley NH straight thru carb and got 25-26 MPG!!! Of course this was mostly continuous, p...

O-2-O 2019 Reliability
For the 29 participants in the O-2-O + 10 run, they completed an aggregate of about 120,000 miles. Failures were minimal when compared to 10 years ago, but were most catastrophic with non-original add-on equipment. These included an electric in-line overdrive unit, a Watts clutch, and 2 or 3 alterna...

Re: Driving Wheel Question
I have always understood how a differential works and that the wheel with the least traction will spin, but that is not my question. Given the SAME traction at both wheels, will one ( the “driving wheel”) exert more force than the other in propelling the vehicle? If this is truly a “wives tale”, I w...

Driving Wheel Question
Many years ago I was led to believe that one of the rear wheels ( not necessarily on a “T”) was considered to be the “Driving Wheel”, ie. the one which transmitted most of the power to the pavement. This was accepted as being the wheel on the driver’s side of the vehicle. . My question is: is this p...

Re: J.C.Taylor antique insurance rates
Five T’s, a Model-A and two antique motorcycles and I currently pay $785. a year. A 50% increase will put the premium over $1000. I have never has a claim, but have heard they pay readily and fairly. Time to let my kids take custody of some cars and downsize if I want to stay in the game. If you wan...

Sorry to learn of your Dad’s passing. A fitting final ride in a Model-T. Take comfort in your and his many Model-T friends in this time of remembrance and sorrow.

Re: Exhaust Nut Wrench
When I put the exhaust pipe and nut together, I apply a good amount of “muffler cement” to the threads and contact surfaces. Hardens and seals when heated and never comes loose or leaks.

Re: Teflon Tape for Carb Fittings
Thanks for all your valid, varied, and interesting comments to my inquiry. I should have mentioned that I am using a Tillotson carb with a variety of couplings, flare adapters, and shutoff valve as shown. I know it looks like a plumbing nightmare, hence the reason of several chances for leaks. Given...

Teflon Tape for Carb Fittings
I am changing the copper/brass fuel delivery line from tank to carb with a flared steel brake line using brass adapters, couplings, and fittings. Need a consensus/opinion as to whether to use plumbers Teflon tape on the threads. Thanks in advance. Reason for doing so: I’ve had the original lines lea...
