Re: Prus head is on and TESTED.

Clearance between the top of piston and the underside of the combustion chamber to generate quench (create turbulence) should be around 0.038 to 0.060. On a flat motor, quench can become problematic, because you need space around the valves to generate effective laminar flow both underneath and arou...

Re: Anyone with a speedster and a Ruckstell and hand brake on the left outboard off the body?

I'll be tackling the same on my speedster. On the last one I built, I made a new cross shaft / e brake shaft that goes underneath the driveshaft, but with a 6 inch extension on the driver side. Moved the ratchet mechanism to the outside of the body, making a bracket that braced on the underside of t...

Re: Morton and Brett Radiator

That is stunningly nice. Would you have a side profile of the radiator? Interested in the the top side profile. Is it rounded or a flat slope back? Thank you. Re: Morton and Brett Radiator

Thanks Ed, the chassis is pre '26/27, engine and rear are '26/27. Have a complete '16 that is going into the speedster.

Mike, thanks for posting!! No, to bad the hood was lost. There are holes for a windshield. Figured the car had been around, not really a mystery. Thoughts? The cowl is why I think it is Morton and Brett, even though the tail looks Faultless.

Morton and Brett speedster build

Picked up what I think is a Morton and Brett speedster. Does anyone have a Morton and Brett radiator? Been reading, seems there was a run of Polyform bodies made years back, and there may have also been a run of radiator shells made? Does anyone have any pictures they could share? Were the shells ma...

Re: WTB - model T wheels between Lynchburg VA and Jackson TN

Morning Bob, Just looking for 4 wheels to roll a chassis off a trailer, don't even need tires, or all the spokes. Car was put on the trailer with a fork lift. Thanks! What size do you need? 30x3.5, 30x3, or 21s? If you don't know what size you need maybe post a picture of the car or what year it is.

Re: WTB - non-demountable 30 x 3 1/2 in SoCal

Thank you George, this is to go on my fathers bitsa he built in the late 50's as a kid. You can deflect the fronts with a bit of knee. It is a glorious collection of parts. Probably has round fellows, but not being picky. If a nice set can be found, I'll be happy. Douglas, I might have this wrong, b...

Re: Tappet question? Not a noise...

Thank you Dan, I will reach out and see if Bill is still making the tappets. The 292/Y block tappet foot is 1" diameter- pretty much the same as the aftermarket T adjustable tappets. Your cam guy should be able to find a profile that will work with the 1" follower diameter. John is correct, Bill Sti...

Re: Tappet question? Not a noise...

Thank you Moxie for the reply. Working with a cam builder, trying to find a lifter with a larger foot, as Kevin noted, going for a higher lift. If going to the effort to increase the base circle of cam, a larger foot on the lifter will be beneficial. With a larger base circle, the ramp of the cam be...

Thank you Kevin. Have you tried installing them? The only reference I had found was for a gentleman who was rebuilding a "N". Also, have you tried zephyr springs? Saw an A that had that mod.

Re: Tappet question? Not a noise...

Thanks...not a noise question. Engineering query. Cam lobe contact is centered on the tappet , the diameter of the tappet would prevent the tappet from dislodge ... Wear would be at that location and also where the tappet meets the valve stem after clearance during run. Due to valve stem/tappet wear...

Tappet question? Not a noise...

Are there any tappets available with an oversized foot (larger diameter) that will fit into a T block? Recall A friend tried A tappets, but i recall a lot of machine work in a space with not a lot of metal and never went any further. Thanks!
