There is an explanation out there but it involves a little more physics and math than can be easily presented. Re: Covid struck again
Allan is right - maybe the admin will move it. Anyway, I had kidney surgery on November 15 and think I caught covid in the hospital. Before I was symptomatic I gave it to my wife and daughter. All of us have had all the vaccinations we're eligible for and started Paxlovid the day we tested positive....

I don't know how I missed this but the contacts kit sold by Langs is supposed to be a match both physically and metallurgically to the originals, which Snyders is not. Looking at the photos they look correct. They cost more but in the long run I think they're worth it. PN 5001CONBQ

I'm sure you've confirmed the wiring is correct - sometimes folks get wires crossed on the timer. I've also come across having a timer brush installed 180° off a couple of times so it is worth checking. I'm a little suspect of your carbs. I'd recommend anyone with a car that has sat a long time to g...

Wait. I ordered some for a friend, waited until I got a shipping notice for the first set to order the second. Unfortunately, they somehow got combined together so we had to deal with folks at UPS, fill out some forms and pay duties. Me, I'd wait until the first set is out for delivery before orderi...

Original coil box springs feel more rigid and have a square hole to accept the shoulder of the original bolts. The cheaper repops I've seen are noticeably softer and have a round hole that has to be modified a bit to get them to fit. I've used the cheap ones to double up with the originals to give t...

No responses? I'm wondering if Kelsey only made loose-lug rims. The loose-lug Kelsey I have is definitely narrower than either the Ford or Hayes.
Note: I did find out that at least some Kelsey production came from Windsor, Ontario.

Wheel Question
Did Kelsey ever make a steel wheel that accepted fixed-lug rims? If so, were they a little bit narrower than the Fords and Hayes felloes? By any chance, were such wheels (if they existed) often used on Canadian-built Model T's?

Oops! Forgot to mention. Since the Regan charger is connected between the magneto and the battery the question is often raised as to what happens if the diode shorts? Connecting DC directly to the mag should NEVER be done, as it can de-magnitize the magnets. Short answer is, if the diode shorts (I h...

I have a 1917 - I added the starter but of course, the block is not cast to accommodate a generator. I chose to go with a John Regan magneto charger. It's simply a diode and a light bulb connecting the battery and mag post on the battery box. John produced a nice little circuit board that does the j...

Tim, One of the problems that has confounded Model T owners for the last century is a poor-running car due to the formation of carbon tracks in the wood of coil boxes. I strongly recommend making contact with other Model T owners. They can be a great source of advice and parts.

Carbon tracks once established are pretty much impossible to remove. Snyders sells a plastic replacement kit for coil boxes. Save your old contacts...they're typically a better material. I've found that doubling up the contacts (one original, one new) will help prevent them bending with use.

Has anyone figured out a way to secure the neck on a Bergs "black" radiator so it can support a motometer? Mine came off twice before I gave up and just use a cap. The Bergs neck is just soldered on - no mechanical attachment.

I skimmed the prior responses so forgive me if I restate something already mentioned. I use Shell Rotella 15W40 non-synthetic, detergent oil. New Day - Tip Top Timers (Spokane Valley, WA) makes excellent replacement brushes although they cost a bit more than those from the vendors.
