John, if it were mine, i would wait on a new ring and pinion, as its impossible to clean up wear on the ring, and have it properly seat to whatever pinion you decide to use. Although its not the most difficult task on a T, rebuilding the diff may very well be one of the most important ones, as far a...

How is having the ball full then adding some after it squeezes out under normal operation a bad thing? I would think having it mostly full would be an advantage for a healthy u-joint, and for preventing engine oil from going down the torque tube and into the diff. Me confused. :?

Ruffled feathers aside, how does one broken tie-rod that may or may not have had the damper installed correctly institute the fearmongering of an installation for all the others with no problems? We all followed the journey that was lionized here by some, fact or fiction?

OT - Some Cabin Fever Relief with Bonnie & Clyde

Just saw the release date of this and thought i would share. Looks good to me ;) If you don't have Netflix, get it, it's well worth it. If not, will probably be in the Theaters soon after.

Re: 2d Gear Difficulty

As others here have correctly opined, shifting technique makes a huge difference in the way your T will adjust to high gear. When i first started driving i made the mistake of shifting into high at too low a speed and my T made it known to me it didn't like it one bit. After some trial and error, i ...

I do it the same way as Allan does it. Spin the tire and adjust the block till it touches the high spot, then i mark it with tape and slightly loosen the lugs in that area, and then tighten the opposite ones. It often takes a few tries to get it right, and you will probably never be able to get it p...

Definitely a great tool to have in your collection. I bought one that i thought was was an original, but turned out to be a repop that like others have claimed, was too small for the nut. Not a big deal, but some massaging of the wrench was required for it to fit properly.

Re: It's time to STOP RESTORING, and START PRESERVING the remaining good original cars that are left...

This was my T up for auction about 1984, a pretty sad sack for sure. I can see the argument about keeping her the way she was, or restoring her to its previous glory, the last owner chose the latter. The door was missing when bought and replaced with another that has the wrong bottom hinge, but that...

I for one am a fan of both the restored, and the un-restored, as i find the beauty inherent in both. I doubt there's a lot of T restorations going on nowadays unless its a nice brass, and the owner is completely aware what the market will bear. I was lucky enough to fall upon an older restoration th...

I would use the same grease that you use for the wheel bearings. I put a zerks on them and pump till full. You will lose a little bit now and then while driving, but just wipe it off during your maintenance routine, and repeat the process to keep it full.

Tim, you're likely to get lots of different opinions on which weights to use, and probably all of them will be correct. ;) I personally use the 600w and keep it about 1-1/2 inches below the filler hole, or close to level with the bottom of the axle tube.

Tim, i usually start out at a minimum of 75 lbs, then tighten up to the next nut notch which might end up at 100 lbs.+ or-. Opinions may vary, but 200 lbs. seems very excessive to me.

I had an annoying skip while under load that drove me crazy for weeks. After checking all the usual suspects, wiring, timing, etc.., i decided to pull all the plugs apart and found this. Although i couldn't visually detect a crack in the porcelain, there was some definite carbon tracking going on. R...

Thanks Doug, the truth is i have only a small part in how my T looks today as the previous owner did all the hard work with a complete restoration back in 86.
