Re: 13T - Insufficient Cooling
I walked the walk with over heating problems with my 13 touring before adding a Texas T new water pump. That was over 15 years ago and the car runs great. Besides a brass works flat tube core radiator....I did clean out the head and block with Phosphoric acid during the re-build over 20 years ago. I...

I have the earlier style Rocky's with cast iron drums on my 13 touring for over 20 yrs. and like them.....except when they get wet. When wet , I ride the brakes early to help dry them out when going down hill or approaching a stop sign. I have the internal brake band adjusted loose but can lock up t...

Go to an Automotive paint and body shop supply store in Calif. and ask for "Paint Gun Wash". It's available in 5 gal. containers and it works like Lacquer thinner.

Re: Admin Jeff vs The Hill..., Who Will Win?
With the dam's in place, how do you intend on feeding oil to each dipper trough so all have sufficient oil for each dipper. By blocking each pocket, it makes it much more difficult to oil the forward rods depending on splash from the flywheel. Oil may not drain easily from pocket to pocket. Don't th...

Re: Ford Faithful for an outside oil line?
I consider the Ford Faithful oiler with a 3/8" line going to the front side of the pan a better choice compared to a mag. post oiler. However, an outside oil line (1/2") going from the hogs head to the pan beats them all except for an oil pump. Approx. 20 yrs. ago, I drilled/tapped a 3/4" NPT thread...

I have been running a Giant power head on my 13 touring and have been happy on performance. Do not consider it a High compression head.....just a head with better design. I don't think Lacquer paint is still available in Calif. Even "Gun Wash" is no longer Lacquer. This is all because of EPA rules in Calif. I have been using 90-140 synthetic gear oil from McMaster Carr. Been using it for over 20 yrs. and very happy with the results....it does not attack the Bronze thrust washer. The gear oil stay's clear and does not turn a Bronze color like I have found using conventional gear oil.
