Beat, I use Nickel/Iron (Ni/Fe) electrodes to repair cast iron. If you have the missing part it isn't that dificult to do. If the part is missing you should first make one that fit it. It can be iron but cast iron is better. To start the repair you need to CLEAN and DEGREASE the parts. Make a templa...

Re: Starter & Generator brush plate repairs

Thanks for the information. It works fine on the starter brush bridge too. The only difference I do, is drilling a 2.5mm hole in de riveted parts of the brush holder before I grind of the rivet. In the hole I tap a M3 thread (metric I live in Belgium). The screw I use are m3 x 10mm Here a few photos...

Re: 1913 Keystone Kokomo Electric coils information request

Matt, You are on the right way. I use paint stripper heat air gun, but pay attention not to burn the wood and take your time to open the box one piece at the time. If some of the panels like to stay togheter just leave them. You just need to take out the coils and work inside the box. Good luck Andr...

Re: Heinze Coils - An Inferior Design; OR Did History Get it Wrong!

Sheri, I agree with you. The last 6 years, I rebuild over 50 Heinze and Kingston coils. They are all still in the running without any problem. Very often the high tension coil is bad, I use the Ford coil or the replacement some vendors offer. I always change the points. The only thing I say to the o...

Mike, I am not willing to go in discution with you. You know much more about electronics as I will ever do but I know a lot of ignitions. I can read the tension during the test is 12.435V, is this Dc or Ac ? At 12V about every coil work well. The Heinze coils you show are starting to work at 1.2Vac....

1911 fire wall and fire wall support

Hi all, I am working on a 1911 Model T Torpedo. Last week I ordered the right fire wall and finished the clear coat job. I have questions about the fire wall supports. Are they different as the 1913 support? In the fire wall, on the car they are three bolt to attach the support on the fire wall. On ...

Re: 1913 Keystone Kokomo Electric coils information request

Matt, You need to understand that, at the time these coils were used, (pre 1919) there was no electric starter on the Model T and the battery used for an "EASY" start were three or four 2V thrown away cells set in serie. Most of the starting was done by hand on the Magneto. The output of the magneto...

Re: 1913 Keystone Kokomo Electric coils information request

Matt, You can not get remedy on the double spark. It will be there. You need to set the coil for the best spark (1/4") in the air and 0.8 to 1.00Aac current and max. 1.5Vac. If current is to high or to low you should pleat the spring a little bit but pay attention do not over do this way back is har...

Re: 1913 Keystone Kokomo Electric coils information request

Matt, The coils you have there are late 1910 and 1911 Kingston coils. The bridge wire, on top, between the contact point was for using a Master Vibrator Coil, as Allan from down under said. The resitant of the high tention coil should be 3.5K to 3.8K Ohm. Rebuilding these coils is not that easy. To ...

The Guide you need is # 150-8.
The 60° cutter is # 293.
The 15°/46° cutter is # 641.

Price now I have no idea.
I bought mine 10 years ago.
I paid than $350.- shipping included.
