Re: Front License Plat Mounting

Steve When I got my 1915 Runabout it had a poorly made aluminium reproduction Canadian style license plate mounted on the passenger side headlamp stancion. This positioned my 1915 Michigan plate too close to the choke pull rod loop and in the way of a clear swing of the hand held crank handle. I tri...

Re: HCCT Magneto Coatings - What, if anything, needs to be bare?

I have restored over 50 HCCT's so I qualify to opine. This procedure will address your painted surface questions. This process is for a Ford /Ford clone HCCT. With the exception of the spark ring mechanism (I will address the spark ring later) everything may be painted. Do not paint electrical conne...

Re: Oil leak/puddle underneath the starter...

Early Model T starters were equipped with a felt seal for the Mounting Bracket/armature shaft seal. See attachd photo on Right. Not sure how long this was done, but you don't see them very often. Those units did not have a drip hole drilled in the bottom of the starter case.. I rebuilt over 500 Mode...

For SAle Restored Circa1915 Metal Top Coils

A nice set of metal top Circa 1915 Model T Ford ignition coils shown in the attached photo are offered here for sale. I removed these coils from a restored 1915 Model T Runabout I recently purchased. They worked great but needed new points/adjustment and cleaning up a bit. Being a coil perfectionist...

Re: 17-Z-429 Early Ford Coil Tester

Most coil testers have the fiedl ring monted with the solder ile on the bottom. That makes the wireing routing easier. .
I have seen some of the early units with the magneto terminal solder pile on the top.
Either way, it makes no electrical difference.
