Re: Sheet metal Piston Skirts

Those are the late 27 pistons they call the tin pistons, 7/8 wrist pins in them, most throw them away and use the earlier rods than the X rods.

Re: Crankshaft Balancing...Part II

At least you pick the heavier one to weld the weights on to, I had an engine that came in with the Dunn's weight on it, had a bad vibration to it, sent it out for dynamic balancing, fired it back up and it still had it, removed the weights and rebalanced and it was gone???? I do not know if to much ...

Re: Want to buy 26/7 Transmission Thrust washer.

Some of the new drums are a tad longer than originals I have had to face the bearing surface off to get the dimension you need for the three washers on a rebuild. You might want to set them up on a flat table and measure what you have and what was on it in the beginning.

They where only on the intake, It surprised me since the guides where still tight? I thought it would reduce fuel on the intake or some wild ideal of making the fuel atomize better? Tim, the wife took the picture, you do not think I could post some thing like this the dumby I am on computers!!

Thought I had seen it all...

Tore an engine down and found this on the intake valves between the intake and block. The only thing I could figure out was that it was to keep the valve open longer. Probably a gimmick that didn't work.

Re: Max a T engine can be bored? And other questions

I would pull that chassis with out plugs in it around the yard, add oil into the cylinders and make sure oil is in the engine, you have nothing to loose by trying it, I would push it back wards first that tends to knock them loose first.

Re: Max a T engine can be bored? And other questions

The problem years ago with anything over .060 was head gasket issues, since then the pistons are now radiused on the out side edge to prevent pitons from hitting head gasket. But with all that being said I would rather not go over .060, the walls get thin and more chance of cracks from exhaust into ...

Adam, one of them was in a customers engine, trying to decide to re install it if it is worth it and they know ahead of time about the crack issues that may or may not happen. Jerry, Thanks, I have seen both styles, had a light one years ago and magged it, it was cracked inside the front journal, both of these are the heavy style. I was told years ago that there is a high head that has a thumb nail casting on the back, 20-21 era? That the bottom of the head was thicker and you could shave off 1/4 to get your higher compression? I was also told since you have to use a stock head on the Montana 500 this is the head they use? I ...
