These are great model T roads with very light traffic. The Mississippi river valley here is wide and flat with deep black soil that is great for growing soybeans and corn. And at least one BIG TREE! Count me in Scott.

Kelly, please don't take my comments, ( and some others) as being against making modifications to your own car. There are many things you can do to make a T perform more like a modern vehicle. Wow! This one hit the nail.

"It's bad for the model T hobby"
As long as someone is not misrepresenting what they have, we should all refrain from unsolicited comments.

What DOES hurt the hobby, is some newby at an event, (or anyone for that matter) being told what a piece of crap their car is!

Interesting question. I believe Brent is correct, the horsepower output of the engine does not change. The question is, does the weight of the magnets rob horsepower, or merely store it? And if so, how much?

I'm no speed expert, but I don't think a distributor is what makes a speedster go faster. What it does, is allow you to reduce the weight of the car and add some zip by eliminating the magnets.

You only need four. Two for the front of each seat. Pick the ones that suit you for height on the driver's seat and use the others for the passenger seat. Re: Going Down Hill with a Ruckstell

I believe the old adage is, "Go down a hill in the same GEAR it would take to go up It" Whether you have a ruckstell or not, the goal is to have engine compression slow your speed down the hill and use your brakes sparingly, if at all. If you are paying attention and looking ahead, you can go around...

Re: Took a day trip in the T. Went to Natural Bridge of Arkansas

Enjoy your videos Donnie. With good bands that are properly adjusted I have gone up and down some pretty steep hills as long as I don't lose traction in loose gravel. When I was younger and learning to drive I remember some older people advising to go down the hill in the same gear you would use to ...

Re: Fall tour to Washington Missouri

I was supposed to meet the group at the Augusta Garage, but, as Scott said, plans were changed and I caught up with them on the road. But while I was waiting I met glass blower and owner, Sam Stang who gave me a tour of the garage. It is the quintessential "dream garage" One side was originally buil...

Thanks for posting this. That's a great gizmo! I can also see that it would be very useful when teaching someone to drive a T, it would keep it out of high until they are more familiar with the controls.

Re: Gotta see BIG movie coming out this October - lots of Model T's

Yes! The pace of shows and movies seem to move faster than the pace of life itself. At home I frequently go back because the image is flashed so quickly or they talk so fast, if you blink, you'll miss it. No wonder younger people are bored with older movies where the camera stays and the actors move...

Re: ‘27 Coupe fuel leak

20231020_121347-1.jpg I had a similar problem with my 26 touring. Some may not approve of my fix, but it has worked for me. My tank was reasonably clean and serviceable except it leaked from pin holes in the overflow tube inside the tank. I removed the extended tube on the firewall and thoroughly c...

Re: Axle housing

Thanks all for your thoughts. The oil level is correct, the exhaust pipe extends past the axle. As suggested I'm going to thoroughly clean the area and inspect with a magnifying glass. If it is just seeping at the joint and or rivets, that is not a big concern. My biggest fear is if the housing is c...

Re: ‘27 Coupe fuel leak

It could be leaking where the outlet fitting is soldered to the bottom of the tank or the overflow tube inside the tank is rusted and perforated. It's not uncommon for a 90+ year old tank. If you can't determine exactly where it's leaking while in the car, your going to have to remove the tank.

Axle housing

I regularly inspect my 26 touring before a drive, I have cleaned the undercarriage and an area on the rear axle appears to continue to get oily. Is it possible that the housing is cracked? I would like to avoid a catastrophic failure.

What The----?

When I bought my cabin, this was hanging on the wall. It was about half full of a red liquid that has turned clear as it has evaporated. The only opening to the air is at the top of the "spout", and it is made of clear glass. My guess was it's some kind of old time barometer? There is such a wide an...
