Re: Seeking Back Issues of Vintage Ford
Hello Phone Guy, I have quite a few OLD copies of the Vintage Ford I purchased recently in an attempt to (almost) complete my collection. I had to pay dearly for them but I do have several extra copies I could sell you. I see your original post is years old but if you are still looking I have most o...

Re: What the heck are these things?
SUSPICION CONFIRMED! It was a disintegrated ball bearing 4th main. The small pieces pictured earlier were probably part of the oil seal and the larger mangled circular piece is the outer cover found today after disassembly. I gotta believe that bearing started life with more balls than that but how ...

What the heck are these things?
My '27 Roadster has been faithful and bulletproof for years but last Thursday on the way back from the July 4th Parade it started making AWFUL noises. Ran good in high gear and the mag worked fine but when I pushed the clutch in it sounded like two items were scraping against one another, BADLY scra...

Re: California or Bust
This story has only a little to do with the "Trails Less Traveled" tour in San Diego but as you read farther you'll see the connection. In about 2006 or 2008 Dave Seiler from California contacted Dick Lodge, the Greater St. Louis Chapter newsletter editor at the time, inquiring about getting 2 Model...

Re: We put the T together in 15 minutes!!
The Greater St. Louis Chapter has been doing 'Rapid Assembly' demos throughout the region since 2005. We've done it at nursing homes, in the parking lot of a Children's cancer hospital, at an endless number of car shows big and small, even at the Indiana State Fair a few years ago. Our assembly time...

A guy iin Sikeston MO needs help
I got a call yesterday from a guy in Sikeston Missouri asking for help/advice from someone near him who knows Model Ts. He says he knows Model A's but T's "are way different." I told him I would try to help. I live in St. Louis which is fine for telephone help but too far to render 'hands on' assist...

Re: Swap Meet at Homecoming
I'll be there with 2 pickup loads of T parts. It's nice to go to a Swap Meet where, with few exceptions, everything for sale is for a Model T and all the buyers are Model T people.

12 Volt reading on my 6 volt ammeter
I'm trying to solve some electrical problems on a car that has a 12 volt Texas T alternator. I don't pretend to know much about electricity so I need some help. At anything above an idle the ammeter is pegged at 20 amps. Someone told me that because I am using an original 6 volt ammeter with a 12 vo...

February 1979 in front of the building in downtown St. Louis where I picked up my '27 Roadster. Since that day I've driven her well over 100K miles, repaired/replaced every mechanical component at least once (but always kept it 'correct' for 1927), taught my children to drive in it, inflicted countl...

Re: Just conversation. Why tube in lower radiator hose line?
When I put my first T together, not knowing what was correct, I went to the auto parts store and bought a length of radiator hose to run the full length from the lower outlet to the inlet on the side of the engine. The car ran fine until it got warm then the long hose began to collapse and un-collap...

Re: Fall tour to Washington Missouri
The morning meeting spot was at a commuter parking lot near the Interstate where we soon learned a Porsche Club was also meeting so the T's gathered on one side of the lot and 40 Porsches on the other. Minor trouble started almost immediately after departure but the real fun began half way up the "H...

The Granddaughter of the original owner enlisted an auction Co to handle the sale and the bidding immediately went past my comfort level. It sold to a man from southern Missouri who has a huge tool collection that he displays throughout the region. Although I don't know what he's done with it, I sur...

Top wood measurements
I bought a set of top bows for a 23 Roadster at Hershey that looked beautiful (and I paid PREMIUM price for them) but when I got home the wood is 3 or 4 inches too long. I've tried to get the measurements from from others with similar cars but the wood is wrapped making it difficult to feel where th...

Re: Model T Tour Guidance
Everyone who has responded so far has given good advice but having planned club tours for 30 years I would add one piece of crucial advice; give every participant a route description that has bulletproof, easy to read, turn-by-turn instructions making sure all the street names and left/rights are co...

Need help with a paint code
I know paint codes are somewhere in this website, I've seen them before but can't locate them now. I'm repainting the wire wheels on 27 Roadster and need the correct paint color for my "STRAW" wheels. Am I looking right past it or has it been taken down?

Re: Holley Vaporizer troubles
I've owned my 27 Roadster for 42 years, have driven it possibly 100,000 miles in that time and have always run a vaporizer on it. Mine starts good regardless of outside temp, runs smooth and is just as "fast" as others with NH carbs. My suggestion; do as I did and get a rebuilt from Russ Potter--the...

Re: Barn Find TT
For a host of personal reasons not related to the vehicle I have decided not to buy it and would like to see it go to a loving, respectful home. I am not backing away because of anything related to the truck. I'd love to have it but.........I want to emphasize that this is a TRUE barn find pretty mu...

Re: Barn Find TT
When I heard about this Barn Find only ten miles from my house I jumped at the opportunity but wasn't expecting a TT. My disappointment faded quickly as I explored and when I saw the turn signal I was hooked! It is totally complete and unmolested (Except for the junk piled all around it of course). ...

Barn Find TT
This morning I looked at a Barn Find for sale by the granddaughter of the original owner. It is a true one-owner vehicle, she still has the original title and accompanying paperwork and it hasn't been out of the garage and barely looked at since 1939. It has a wooden body that grandpa used for trans...

Try Larry Niederschulte from Shawnee Mission Kansas, larryslicenseplates.com, 816-365-0447 He is a fixture at swap meets all over the midwest and has an enormous collection. If he doesn't have what you need he can probably get them or know somebody who can.

Frank I'm glad you kept looking. I believe that's exactly what I have, a hub cap for an AA. Even though it's now identified I'll still use it as a wall hanger in my garage. Thanks to all for their input.

Re: Help me identify this
The octagonal shape and Ford script sure looked like a hub cap and the external threads made me think pre-T. I hadn't considered the fact that script wasn't used right away on T's. Maybe it is from a truck in the 30's but for now it will be a wall hanger in my garage.

This hubcap has me puzzled. Pre-T probably. First 1500 maybe. Can anyone help me identify this?
