I finally got my generator on my 27 Roadster with 6v voltage regulator. I used a test light on the output side of the generator and it’s working except my amp meter isn’t showing charge. Finally someone gets what I’m saying...Thanks Bill and Adam ! Bill I was thinking the linkage could be the problem you spoke about. Adam I had the hogshead off and cleaned and didn’t notice any brazing to the pedal cam, but it could still have been done and I missed it. Thanks again fellas !

Kerry , it was even like that with the worn out cotton linings when I got the car. I installed Kevlar and thought I had it to tight but slightly back the band off and I have almost no low gear. I slowly readjusted until I got low back. The clutch travel didn’t change either way.

I don’t think I explained the problem clear enough. Let me go at it a different way. What I’m saying is there’s almost no clutch travel in high gear. With the hand brake half way low is perfect but once the the hand brake is pushed forward and I’m in high and need to push the clutch to find neutral ...

I’ve had my 27 Roadster for a short while now and I’ve noticed that when I need to stop and push the clutch pedal in I can only push maybe 1/2” before it wants to go back into high. I have to really watch or the car will go right into traffic. Is the problem with the pedal linkage or does the clutch...

Don’t do it ! A friend of mine installed a alternator that could never be in mesh with the Timing gear. The gears howled very loud. He refused to remove it...it slowly ate up both gears. I believe the alternator was from Buckeye.

The 27’s usually bring a bigger price. They were much thinner metal and didn’t hold up as well as the thicker plates. I have 2 in very good shape, but not for sale.

26-27 license plate clamps

Are the 26-27 license plate clamps that mount to the headlight bar the same as for a Model A ? I have a set for a Model A but the holes in the original 1927 Tennessee plate are set lower and I can’t attach it.

I’m working on the top irons for my 27 Roadster that need a complete overhaul. I’m thinking of trying the PVC strips for the bends on irons or 1/4” plywood strips. Lots of good info hear.

Not a tuff job, and yes it can be done with the engine in the car...I just replaced one for my buddy and in my Roadster a few months ago.

Dan, my matching numbers Roadster has the manufacturing date of late July 1926 and was titled in 27. It has the zinc around the curtain rod hole. I’m guess since it’s a very early 27 production the zinc is correct.

Thanks again Hank ! I have a decent set of black ones that do fit, guess I’ll use those until I find a set of plated rings or I get these to fit.

Headlight rings

Is anyone making the correct headlight lens ring these days ? I bought a new set of plated rings and even after grinding all 4 of the little studs on the inside they still don’t fit ! They’ve gotten better but will not twist all the way over to lock into place. I have a black original set that I may...
