Re: 1925 Ford Dealer Invoices
I lived in Clovis, NM from 2009 to 2014 and it was terrible then, I can only image how desolate it was in 1925. Clovis is New York City compared to Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, just 57 miles down the highway from Clovis. Ft. Sumner is the "armpit of New Mexico" and is bad enough to give the country of M...

Re: Inspection Denial
I'd ask the museum who does their inspections, and just drive it anyways until its sorted out. In my guard unit we have multiple state troopers and local cops from departments all around the state. Even the ones that I'm confident would give their own mother a ticket for 5 over would probably not ev...

Re: Chrome or Nickel
Many chrome plated items are available for Model Ts. They look pretty good on candy apple purple T-buckets and such. ok yeah thats a good visual for me, its not that kind of shiny. That looks like nickel to me, it looks like it has that “richer” tone, not the harsh brightness of chrome. Your radiat...

Chrome or Nickel
On one of my first drives with my 26 touring car, I lost a headlight rim and lens without realizing it. The kids and I heard a weird clunk at a stop light, and I was convinced some important part of the car just fell off. I hurriedly got out and looked underneath the car, and I didn’t see a thing, b...

Water pump removed, hoses and pipe installed. Just got to fill it with coolant, and hopefully starting next time.

Re: Correct water inlet bolts
Common, yes, correct looking, no. The finish/material/grade bolt does not matter for a water inlet. Modern zinc or cad bolts are not the right finish, and a modern hex head is the wrong shape, they will work, but look wrong. Model T bolts that I have had tested were somewhere less than a modern gra...

Re: Correct water inlet bolts
Thanks to everyone for the help, and the fastener chart and links. I bought some 2 inch long bolts the other day, and they seemed too long, the 1 inch bolts holding the water pump on were definitely too short, so I’m glad I can confidently go find the 1.5 inch ones. Does the finish/material/grade ma...

Correct water inlet bolts
I’m in the process of removing the water pump and putting the original style water inlet back on my 26. I assume I will be buying a bergs after I get things running, but I’d like to take this link out of the cooling system. The bolts that came off the water pump are modern grade 5 bolts and barely c...

Re: 1927 Touring right and left fender are different, maybe
I’ll check my 26 on Friday. The frame is March of 26, and the engine is September of 25, so I really have no idea if that’s helpful or not, but it will be interesting to check. I have this picture of the passenger side headlight mount, so it has the bar, but does not appear to have the raised portio...

Re: On track !
According to that article it was steered with differential braking on either side of the drive axle. I would think if you turned the front wheels with those tracks on you’d make the inside track loose and stretch the outside track.

Re: Texas Inspector Threw the Book At Me.
I used to have my cars registered in Texas when I was stationed in New Mexico (about 7 years ago) and I would get them inspected in the tiny border town of Farwell. The inspection was a joke compared to when I was in San Antonio. I would find the most rural inspector you can.

Pulled it out of a shipping container and brought it home. I also broke the sediment bulb, and drained the gas and oil that had been sitting in it for who knows how long.

Re: How Tiedown a Model T to Trailer
Norm, Thanks for the reply, I’ll probably just do that with the windshield then. It is an open trailer, so based on the previous comments I was thinking of taking the floorboards and seat cushions off and putting them in the tow vehicle. I’m not sure if there is a top boot, but I will also be paying...

Re: How Tiedown a Model T to Trailer
Would it be worthwhile to remove the windshield on a 26 touring car? Either just the glass, or the entire frame? I'll be towing from Kansas to Ohio with a uHaul car trailer.

Re: Where to start?
That's the battery. It's under the rear floor board. Yeah I’m an idiot, I was for some reason thinking that the battery and coil box up on top of the engine occupied the same location simultaneously. I even saw the heavy gauge wire going to it in another picture. Thank you both for the lubrication ...

Re: Where to start?
Ok I'm pretty sure I agree with the consensus so far. I'll be going for the touring car as long as there's no serious rust problems and I can turn the engine over. John, the picture of your 26 was very helpful in explaining my reasoning to my wife. I'm definitely going to have to go see the cars in ...

I am with Wayne on this one and will stick with what I said the first go round about the hack. While there is some paint loss on the touring, I would go with it. More of the 26, I really like the green paint, but it looks like a lot of it is peeling: 03027155-05D9-44F7-8831-BC0F71638234.JPG B02DF504-F1DE-4D8E-9426-B6889F7FD19C.JPG F39BC49F-A8A4-43C1-959D-5DF5623AB095.JPG A691EBB0-BA6E-4B6B-BA90-75958D8BBDFE.JPG 3C025A32-D904-4FE0-BAA2-AB4E439CF580.JPG

Where to start?
A relative has recently offered me an inroad to this hobby for a reasonable price. I've been given the choice of two T's for the same price, one as I've posted before is a 25 Depot Hack that started off as a closed car. The other is a 26 touring car that has been in a storage container for at least ...

New member, can you identify this Hack?
Hello, New member here from Columbus Ohio. I recently came upon an opportunity to own one of two 1925 model T's. The cost is the same for me, one is a Depot Hack that appears to have started life as a tudor or fordor and hasn't run for 2 years or so. The other is a touring car that I do not have any...
