26/27 Big Drum Ruckstell
1926 1927 Ruckstell axel. I got it with other parts so I don’t know its history. It has the long shift lock and shifts like it should. I took the shift lock off and things look clean and oily inside. Comes with two wooden wheel hubs that were very tight on the axles. Keyways look good, but one side ...

Light Muncie - Gears look good with normal wear. Everything spins nice. Under-Direct-Over-Reverse. Roughly 1.78:1 U, 1:1 D, and 0.73:1 O. Were used in Ts and TTs. Buffalo or House Wire Wheels and Hubs
Set of four wheels (30x3.5) and four hubs (2R, 2L) with caps in Model T size. Some might run them, but were it me I would re-rim all four. Two rims have pretty deep pits on the inside and marginally sharp spots. One rear hub has a small crack that could be repaired. I'm happy to answer any questions...

Re: original APCO 437 Spring Perch Removal Tool
If you could confirm that this old Etsy listing is not the same puller as yours, I think you’d prove half your point. It has the same jaw notches. The yoke appears to have the same casting glob patterns, though, so I was unsure if it was indeed a second puller of that style or the same one. https://...

I don’t recall disagreeing. I agree that your puller is a perch pusher - either a factory variant of the more common styles or a modified steering wheel puller. I actually lean more toward factory variant. 437 is definitely not the tool number though. It is on steering wheel, perch, and I believe hu...

I believe 437 to be the part number for the yoke, which is shared on at least two tools - the No. 8 perch pusher and No. 2 steering wheel puller.

Ed, could you post a photo of your puller on a steering wheel? I have one that doesn’t seem to grip a wheel very well (cast or pressed steel). It certainly doesn’t fit like the one in this 1923 ad. Note that the one in the ad has straight drops, and mine and the one you pictured have a bend. 0604997...

Thanks for the info. I think the 1915 model year began well before the 1914 model year ended for some body styles and assembly locations, so there were probably “1914” cars with “1915”carburetors. Those are interesting little design details on the running G changes.

Ford made 1914 model year cars until roughly April 1915. All the literature I’ve read just says that the Pat Pending top plate is 1914 and the Pat’d 1914 top plate is 1915. Would a late 1914 year model car have the patent dated carb with a black bowl? Does anyone know when the top plate and bowl swi...

Re: In-line fuse in Model T charging systems
Regarding the short wire on the back side of the switch, the last two harnesses I’ve gotten have had that jumper made from a smaller gauge wire than originally intended. If no fuse is installed, that is then the weak link in the charging circuit, which in my opinion isn’t ideal. I’ve been making a n...

HCCT Magneto Coatings - What, if anything, needs to be bare?
In a car, all of the flywheel and magnet-mounting parts are bare and get continually coated with oil. The field coil ring is coated, but the coil post surfaces are bare. Ron, three of the 17-Z-803 testers above have the output on top, but #4 appears like it might have it on bottom (based on what looks to be a starter notch at bottom right and that I can't see an output block at the top). WTB: Original A-C Brakes
I would like to buy an original small drum A-C Brake system like shown here. I would settle for the brakes themselves if no one has the rest of the setup for sale. Not taking anything away from the excellent reproductions, but I'd like to find an original set. Thanks! 20220515_184012.jpg 810120.jpg

Ford Script on Period Non-Ford Spark Plugs
Does anyone know the story on spark plugs with Ford scripts that aren’t Ford? I assume it was fairly frequent for companies to use it without permission and get sued. Many others used the Ford name without the script, and still others used a similar script that didn’t actually say Ford to try to sim...

Re: Ford Script Kelsey Demountable Rim
I noticed that, Allan. I don’t know if late felloes were designed to universally accept both footed and non-footed lugs, or if those were modified. I also don’t know if those steel spoke wheels just happen to use Kelsey 188 felloes or if those are fully Kelsey wheels. Is the 188 rim made for the 188...

Ford Script Kelsey Demountable Rim
Hi. I’d like to know more information about this rim. It is a Ford 2845B style rim made by Kelsey. One lug is marked with a K and Ford script. On the inside, it is stamped No. 188 and has the same Kelsey stampings (name and patent information) as the fellows in this old post. This rim also has a fai...

Re: Aermore exhaust horn tube length
Steve, last we emailed each other yours was 9-1/2” OAL, which I suspect is the 10” motorcycle version. The advertised lengths vary somewhat from the actual lengths. This photo shows two that I believe are 10” versions. While yours is slightly shorter than these two, I would expect an 8” to be just s...

Re: Aermore exhaust horn tube length
This photo shows what I believe is every size, with the possible exception of the 8” OAL motorcycle whistle if they ever made it. It is listed in some advertisements, but I haven’t come across one. They are probably out there somewhere. Generally, the size listed for the T was the second from left, ...

Re: Aermore exhaust horn tube length
Mark, the short answer is 13” for your particular exhaust horn. Fulton/Aermore was inconsistent through the years, and there are short No. 2 horns/whistles and long No. 2 horns/whistles. Yours is a long and has 1-1/8” OD tubes. It is the same in both tube lengths and diameters as most No. 1s. The sh...

Re: High beam vs low beam headlights?
Keep in mind the T has Dim and On, or “standing” and “on.” This was achieved with different cp filaments. There are many variations of bulbs that try to modernize the system to a high/low.

Stamped Hassler Spring Data
I am putting out a request for some data on stamped Hassler springs. My hope is that as a collective unit, we can piece together data on stamped springs such that unstamped springs can be identified by measurable aspects such as wire diameter and free height. I have a 39 and a pair of 40 springs (al...

HIMICO Transmission
This Himico accessory transmission made by Hinkley Motors replaces Ford's planetary gear transmission with a 3-speed+R sliding gear, lever shifted transmission and pan. It retains a rearward transmission drum brake and does not require shortening the drive shaft. This unit also has the optional auxi...

Questions on How to Ship Wheels
I was wondering the best/easiest/cheapest way to ship T wheels within the USA. I am interested both in shipping wheels to Stutzman for rebuild and in selling some other wheels/rims and potentially shipping to the buyer(s). I’d be interested to hear others’ good and bad experiences, what carriers the...
