On the 27 style as I close the window a slight upward push on the slide arm pulls the window tight. To help hold it open, I have filled a round Knoch at the wide open position on each arm so it drops over the tightner stud.

"What is a Becker starter?" Several years ago Larry (LD) Becker was converting 12 volt Delco starters with a new shaft and mounting to bolt up to a model T. They were excellent starters, less bang into the ring gear. Larry passed away, there was a Family Feud over the business between his two sons. ...

Re: Need some advice on the Starter/Bendix
The starter terminal bolt can be a trouble point. Too much torque while tightening the cable can twist the bolt and break the soldered connection to the bus bar inside. I always use two wrenches when tightening the bolt, one below and one above the cable.

Re: How do I tell if bendix spring is good ??
I have a Becker 12 volt starter. It was still deforming bendix springs. I started using a Model A bendix spring and have had no trouble. You have to be careful with the two spring bolts. Somtimes the heads are too thick, combined with the thicker spring it will rub the bendix cover. I have had to fi...

For my 27 Tudor, I trimmed up a Touring front rubber mat, cut slots for the seat legs, etc. For the rear I made one from a universal carpet found at a local auto parts store and added some button snaps to keep it in place.

Tom: The OD switch does not lock out the overdrive. Lock out is a mechanical lever. The switch only allows you to engage or disengage the overdrive. When disengaged without manually operating the Lock out lever, the car will be in free wheel mode, no brakes, and you can't back up. Auxiliary brakes a...

Bonded linings? Please elaborate Bonded linings were popular for a while in the 60-80 era. They were a very hard industrial lining that was glued / bonded to the band. They were harsh, chattered, but wore forever. I ran some back then but when I saw the wear on the drums, I went back to cotton and ...

They hold up well. Check bearings annually repack when needed. Run the MTFCA safety check yearly. Keep things lubed, cotter pins and safety wire in place. Then drive it like it's a 100 year old car.

If you are using a New Day Timer, Disconnect the timing rod from the timer before attempting to bend it. Trying to bend while connected to the timer can tweak the tab and cause it to break off the timer.

For my 27 Tudor, I had to use my router to cut a 3/8" relief in the floorboard to clear. If you have the original floor then you might want to cut a replacement and save the original. For earlier cars, the floorboards sit higher up and should not be an issue.

The spring should have a square head center bolt. That square head fits in the square hole in the cross member. That should keep the springs from moving from side to side.

Starting with the Ruckstell in high, as you release the low pedal, shift the Ruckstell to low. This gives you an intermediate "hig...

Re: how to check the level of lube in the rear end of a 1914?
Oil level will depend on the year of your rear axle. Early axles had the fill hole above the centerline of the axle, which led to over filling. Oil needs to be below the center line of the axle to keep it out of the axle tubes. Later housings (1920?) have the oil hole below center line. I usually fi...

I suspect many of these early, not totally original, cars were built for the enjoyment of someone who has passed away. Heirs only know it was Grandpa's 1910 and market as such. Hopefully the buyer will recognize its not truly original and bid as such.
