Re: Chassis Paint Recommendation Request
What I did on a sandblasted frame. Brush painted a coat of rustoleum primer, waited a day and brushed on a coat of rustoleum gloss black paint and then a couple of days later went over it with rattle can rustoleum gloss black paint. Really smoothed out the brush marks and a year later while being st...

Re: Garage Exhaust Hose
Your concern about unintended ignition is a valid concern. Rich exhaust is combustible. I personally would never use something (like a shop vac) that's not rated for combustibles in the application being discussed here. Way too much can go wrong. Guy in my neighborhood thought it would be a good id...

Re: Bumpers???
Any thoughts on the supplier purchased, non original ones? When I get closer to the finished 26/27 RPU refurbish, I'd like to install the front brackets with a wooden bumper to match the bed.

Re: What do you use to heat your (freezing) shop for your T?
Wood burning stove is what I use in my 30x30 barn work space. Have 4 acres of woods and always have had enough wood to use for the limited time I spend there. Can get it up to around 50 on a cold day. But, I'm from Indiana and like cold weather for working.

Don't know if it's nationwide or not, but NAPA has 5 quart jugs of oil on sale for $11.99. Was told it's made by Valvoline.

Re: Spindle Bolt oil groove?
Thanks for the quick reply Scott. This is for a 26/27 front end that I'm piecing together. They have been fitted/ reamed and are beautiful. Maybe when installed, I'll assemble and oil with thin oil before switching over to something thicker. I'll be able to sleep now lol.

Re: Spindle Bolt oil groove?
Evidently I have the non-grooved newer version kingpins that the vendors supply now. Question now is, how can I correct this problem, by creating a groove without distorting the rest of the already reamed and fitted kingpin? Thanks, Dave

Re: Need Advice on Taking My Car into Canada
Pete, checking today $1 Canadian equals $0.7425 American. Most shops will gladly take American money. Check with your bank about a money exchange. Unless things have changed you need to buy beer at the duty free station on the way up or buy it in Canada. Bet off buying at the border. Case of beer wa...

Re: Need Advice on Taking My Car into Canada
Great advise Les. Went up there with a group of guys all on motorcycles and they made us take our sunglasses off so they could see our eyes. Didn't appreciate when asked if we had anything to declare and one guy answered "I declare I'm here to have a good time". Next thing I know the whole group of ...

Re: Need Advice on Taking My Car into Canada
Be sure and stop at the duty-free store on the way up to buy your Canadian friends some cheap liquor. They will thank you. If going over the bridge fill your gas tanks, cheaper on the USA side.

Is there going to be a pan straightening service at this years Homecoming? I'd be willing to pay for a pan check.

OK, this brings up another straightening question. Would it be advisable to blast and leave unpainted before having it worked on or have it straightened before blast and paint? Thanks, Dave

IMO, the crank shop has some explaining to do. One of the 1st things to be checked should have been the run out on the flange. Best wishes on the build, you'll get it right.

Re: Teflon Tape for Carb Fittings
Revaz, this might be a good candidate for the L shaped shut-off valve that the vendors sell. Would eliminate over half on your connections. Sort of pricey, but when playing with gasoline, would be worth it IMHO.

Fuel resistant pipe dope on the elbow to carb joint is all that's needed. Works good on sediment bowl to gas tank too.

Not 26/27, they have a different "stem" that has a built in bracket to mount on the fender or light bar.
