Re: Failure to proceed…
After you check the float also check your gas cap to make sure that the vent hole is still open. If the vent becomes blocked then a partial vacuum will form in the tank causing air to be sucked into the fuel from the carburetor end of the fuel line. If you started with a full tank all will be ok but...

The cross section shape would come closest to the balloon tire rims because the earlier 30 x 3.5 inch would have a cross section that curves toward the tire.

Those cut off rods are for a late 1926-27 car and have the fixed collar. They would have to be welded to the old rods at exactly the correct length. The stuff you call as yellow is generally more brown. It is porcelain from the insulator getting burned off by a lean condition in the cylinder. Run a little richer or get a colder spark plug.

Eric, I think what happened to your current valve cover is that it was trimmed to fit a spacer mounted to the head, the purpose of the spacer was to retain some engine oil spray at the rockers. If you can’t find the cover that you are looking for, you could make a new spacer for your existing cover.

Note for Jay about the 1919-23 Coupe body. The rear deck area wood and sheet metal is part of the body and not removable like a Roadster. While people did make Utes out of these cars it requires cutting of the body to fit the mounting of a useable pickup bed .

Here in the Fresno California area there is a Horseless Carriage Club, a Model A Ford and Early V8 Ford Club, but no Model T Club. Over the years I tried several times to form a T club, but there was no interest. The club that worked in Fresno for post brass Model T’s was called, Roaring Twenties Ca...

From your pictures of the two horns, I would say that they are both mag horns because of the motor housing shapes. The battery horn would have a longer motor housing. The two wire horn was for a wood firewall car and the one wire horn was for a metal firewall car that was sold new as a non-starter c...

Picture 1 , I am guessing it is a modified 1920’s T center door body with a modified T engine , either a 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder conversion . That was a lot of body work to go through with out going to more cylinders under that longer hood.

A note about the 30 “ X 3 1/2 “ tire size. Some time after the USA entered WW I in April 1917 the tire size 30” X 3 1/2 “ Oversize became the standard to bridge the 30” and 32” tire sizes with just one tire. This is why the inflated 30 “ X 3 1/2 “ tire ( oversize ) now measures around 31 1/2 inch’s ...

Your front hub must be cracked or badly worn, that cup should be a light press fit. I see that you are using 1928-29 Model A wire wheel adapters and those adapters are heavy. I would find better front hubs because those cups must be tight in the hub.

From your picture I can’t tell if the 1918 type spring perches are on correct side or not. But in the past with the later 1919 type front end I have had to put some weight on the front to compress the spring some to get the radius rod attached. Ford first used the 1919 type spring perches and radius...

When you installed the NOS ball on the old driveshaft tube how did you buck the new rivets ? It is possible that the new brass driveshaft bushing is not properly seated in the driveshaft tube because it is hitting the end of a bucked rivet. It is a Ford-O tail light used on late production non-electric start Model T cars and trucks starting in 1924 to end of production. The local & state governments complained to Ford that the rear license plate needed more light on it.
