This motor was in a 1925 TT truck. It was in a hot fire that burned all the wood, melted the aluminum fan hub, coils, warped the frame and depressed the front spring. It came out of a Taft, California oil field. It had a very serious bed on it- the "U" bolts are huge.

I have a later- thick frame. It measures .187 thick . The front cross member is about .156 allowing for very little paint and rust. This is a '26/27 frame. I had a '25 frame that was the .187 thickness but, the cross members were the thinner- maybe the .125. These are both stock, unmolested frames.

Re: Very dark day. Howard is gone.
Howard was always fun to be with! I remember lots of lours and speedster runs and him throwing out bags of M&M's for the right answers at LBMTC meetings.

There are competitors like this! We run them all the time at our FAST hill climbs! Maybe not so extreme; but, just as much fun.

I liked the new location! Maybe a touch dusty; but not down in the hole with no breeze
See you next year.

Re: Speedster Questions
Another factor in this lowering problem is that the torque tube should never go beyond level- even on the biggest bump with your other-in-law riding with you. This is very bad for the universal joint! As I remember this gives you about 7" to play with. I have found that 7" is normally enough!

What do you consider a "rebuildable" coil?
How much should we be paying for an old non-rebuilt coil?
