Hi Art ..... I'm not sure who made those capacitors, or even if they're still in business that I noticed also that they're not available. The ones that I installed in coil rebuilds as far as I know or still working because I haven't had any complaints.

Hey George, I wonder how that hack at that Ford dealership is doing. Had a nightmare with that camshaft being drilled all the way through for the commutator brush... And I was wondering why it wouldn't start for us..... Commutator brush was installed 180° off.

Get some headlight sockets, larger wattage incandescent headlight bulbs, hook in parallel, use as a load, so the generator will start gennin' after bulbs have been on for say 5 minutes or so. Using a standard cut out or voltage regulator to measure generator output ??

Jim... I have used boiled linseed oil on replacement wood . Gives you nice color to the wood and also seals against moisture and carbon tracking possibilities later on..... One to three coats of oil after a few days to me is fine before assembling into coil box.

After replacing the condenser, soldering the connections, repotting with Hot tar will assure the adhesion to the tar in the rest of the coil unit and this way from Rocky road, vibrations and engine vibrations will eliminate wire breakage inside the coil

And after your connections are checked , and the side is replaced, hot tar will keep everything in position including the wood side you replaced , no glue needed on the wood.

Could be that there's a mix between the 26-27 spindles compared to the earlier ones. The improved spindles are set a little bit higher, thus lowering the car a bit.

Dennis... The suppliers have already selected the capacitors that will work and last in our coils. Yes, there are other capacitors with different ratings but the selection has already been made. Contact one of our suppliers for capacitors and you will be satisfied.

If you only for the most part, use the car for short trips, setting the generator to put out 6 to 10 amp maximum would be beneficial, and if you plan a longer trip turning on your headlights, we'll use up that extra charging. Since the iPhone camera will not accurately photograph things due to camera position, I assure that the upper bridge is perfectly straight to the surface of the wood coil case and to start there is a 0.030" gap. Coil adjustment will change during testing.

If, as was said, the Grosse-Jet valve balls get sticky and stay open or closed,...... it does so from the gunk that's in the gas tank , line, and sediment bowl. Just a personal observation... Engine block has been stamped.... AN7754. I'm thinking it is a replacement block made after 1927 to 1941 era. It is hooked up with a 26-27 hogshead but the block does not have the extra flange area for the top of the hog's head to bolt. Would anyone have any idea where this block was manufactured?.....

Using the 10W30 synthetic detergent motor oil will help to flush out deposits from the 40 straight . , especially on the piston rings preventing wear expansion. Check for compression numbers in all four cylinders..... Don't overfill with oil, refill with 3 and 1/2 quarts. Then check upper oil level ...

Another supporting issue is the copper diameter size of the battery cables. 6 Volt systems rely on usage of high amperage, not voltage. Minimum size of cables is 1/0. Using smaller diameter cables, such as on 12 volt systems, is just inviting irritating problems in use.

Robert.... The Group 1 battery size is the standard for the Model T Ford. Due to the size of that battery carrier that Ford installed will not accept a six volt battery other than Group 1 size., using the standard Ford battery retaining clamps and bolts.

Hey George .... The regular brass choke wire that our vendors sell fits the use a little bit better than the larger gauge clothes hanger wire.... One length will would be slightly longer from outside the radiator to the choke lever at the vaporizer, conversely, not enough wire to fit between the ins...

Seeing that you do have several Model T's , do any of them have electric headlights that run off the magneto?.. the LED bulbs will work with no problem on 6 volt or 12 volt battery/ generator power. Magneto headlight bulbs are wired in series and markings on original bulbs they can be used at voltag...

www.ledlight.com I've used lights from this company the past 4 years and very satisfied with brightness and detail..... My car is 6 volt . Headlights and tail lights are LED and use very little amperage compared to standard bulbs.

You may want to consider going back to using the Ford ignition coils with the updated E-Timer. ...... Issue of pot metal parts disintegrating will no longer be in the picture.

The kingpin does thread into the bottom of the axel for tightness, whereas the the cotter pinned nut locks in the adjustment.

If you want to save all the old coil hardware, cut yourself a length of clothes hanger wire, put the springs, standoffs, and nuts on the wire and then polish up on a wire wheel. Once cleaned, those old springs can be extended by outward pressure to fit your needs on coil rebuilding.
