Lake Norman T's (Possible new NC Model T Club)
It looks like the Tarheel T's are the only NC Model T Club Chapter. If we have interest I would like to get a Chapter going in the Lake Norman Area. Re: Adding a Warford vs Ruckstell to a 1914 Touring
I have a Warford in my 1915 Touring and love it. If you want to drive in the 40 to 45mph range the Warford makes this very possible and the engine will not be overworked in anyway. With a Warford you get the best of all three worlds as you have low original and high gearing. If I am going under 35 I...

It would depend on how old they were. At 20 years old I would replace them just to be sure unless you do not mind the chance of a flat. Rubber ages and will crack with time. That said I just changed a set of tires on my Model A that were 10 years old and I reused the tubes.

You do not have too much travel...you have too long of a fan belt, and to adjust it correctly, the fan has to go to high and swing toward the passenger (timer) side to accommodate the extra length. Re: 1924 Coupe Gives Back Hidden Legroom
Today I worked on making my wood patch piece and that was a bugger to get right but its now finished and painted.....just need to screw it in. I then moved on to bracing the backrest on the wooded framing sections that once had the package shelf screwed into it. Basically I took a piece of wood a bi...

Re: 1924 Coupe Gives Back Hidden Legroom
Norm makes a good point about the location of the gas being thought out. Safety becomes an issue when gas tanks get to close to a muffler in any car. Maybe some type of shielding from the muffler? These days modern vehicles tanks are next to or close to exhaust systems but T’s weren’t built with sa...

The right side is solid as can be but the wood on the right side just crumbled in a small area next to the window. I plan in buzzing the bad out tonight and making a patch. In your first picture, you do not look unusually tall. Must have a short torso and long legs. My dad was like that. He was 6' tall. I was only 5' 7" tall, but when we sat side by side on a bench, I was taller than him! Be sure you put your leg down all the way to the sloped floorboard and see if yo...

Re: Timing and Tuning
Driving the car at road speeds with modern gasoline would have got rid of the carbon without taking the head off. The carbon is the result of short trips, cold running, and perhaps rings not yet seated, and perhaps oil level too high. I cannot speak for the prior owner but I thought the Model T oil...

Sealant For Copper Clad Head Gasket
I was just wondering what would be the best sealant for a copper clad head gasket. I would think putting it in dry would not be a good idea. Also I am installing a Z head so do not know if that makes any difference.

I think I solved the riddle of why the 24 was a little hard to start. I pulled the plugs and they had a very large buildup of carbon. Being that I plan on adding a High Compression Head I wend ahead and pulled the cast iron head off and it was all carboned up. The top of the pistons as well as the v...

So hear is what I started with. As you can see the package shelf takes up a lot of room and for a tall guy like me it's worth the effort to go after that valuable Real Estate. This will involve removing the package shelf, removing the gas tank, removing the seat riser and then reconstruction.

Re: Timing and Tuning
I think it would depend on how much you drive. If you are only putting on 500 or so miles a year its not too bad but if you put on 3000 that's a lot of oil changes. I know for a Model A you can get an Oil Filter however that's not an option for a T to the best of my knowledge.......all we can get is...

I would suggest using a quality 5W30 or 10W30 conventional oil in a new or near-new engine. After 300 to 500 miles, I'd drain it and use 10W30 full synthetic. Avoid racing or loading the engine, such as climbing a steep hill, especially before it is fully warmed up. It's best to run any engine ten ...

If this car has only a few hundred miles since restoration, it isn't broken in yet. I'd oil the timer, check all fluids, then drive it as if it was a brand new car. Re: What really made the Model T so Popular?
I think the simple answer is that Ford built a very good car in very high numbers for a very low price. Many people went from the horse to the T and Henry just kept building them for 19 years. People knew the T and trusted its reliability.......in reality the T should have ended in 1925 but Ford did...

I installed a new set of Universal White tires on my 1915 Touring a few months back. The fronts were taken off the car and I managed to get them on along new flaps using tire irons. Not to bad but for the backs I decided to leave the rims on the car and this method turned out to be much EZer. Removi...

Funny thing is my Model A with a water pump will boil over in 90 plus degree heat. Hey I am not finding front carpet for the closed cars. The vendors have the rubber mats for the open cars but no carpet mats. Do you just find some carpet and cut your own or does someone offer the carpet.
Any reason why they say the rubber mats will not fit the closed cars?
