Mechanic in Middle TN Area?

Trying to find someone who can work on my 1919 engine and transmission. It has severe crankshaft end play, needs rebabbiting. Transmission also needs a look-at. I've been told piston rods may be bent as well. Valves are fine. There is also an explicably large hole cut in the timing gear case, plugge...

Re: Whole lot of roadblocks.

I’d love if I could find someone I could pay to do proper work on it. I just have no T clubs in my area. Both of the TN clubs I have been recommended are hours away from Middle TN. I’m trying to find someone in my area who can do the work.

Re: Whole lot of roadblocks.

To those telling me to buy a service manual, I already have 5 of them. I’m simply asking for a little insight on these problems. I wouldn’t be surprised if previous work caused these problems. When I bought the car, it was clearly in the middle of restoration when it was left. It was a cut 1919 tour...

Re: Whole lot of roadblocks.

Jerry,
The flywheel visibly moves when the engine is shifted. This happens even though the drive plate bolts are completely tight.

Whole lot of roadblocks.

Howdy. I am a newbie, currently attempting a restoration out of my parents' garage. I just got my engine back together for a test after coming back from the machine shop. I only had the cylinders bored, I did not have any babbit work done, as I was hoping to avoid going over budget, and believed I h...

Young First Time Driver Tips?

My name is Josh Hollingsworth, I am a 16 (almost 17) year old currently in the process of restoring my 1919 Touring pickup. When I first got my hands on the unrestored car, I was so concerned with the state of the car that I couldn't even imagine myself driving it at the time. Now that I've finished...

Broken Magneto Horn Bolt

Tried to adjust my magneto horn, barely put any pressure on the stuck nut and the brass bolt snapped right in half. The lower half of the bolt is still in there. How difficult is this gonna be to fix? Is there an easy way to replace the bolt or should I get to soldering?

Re: 1919 Coil Box ignition switch wires

The point of the attatched image is just to show which wire I want to go where.

Turns out I couldn't figure it out because someone previously brazed the coil box to fill in the while holes. I'll have to cut new ones.

1919 Coil Box ignition switch wires

Having trouble understanding how the magneto and battery posts wire up to the switch. I have the magneto wire running from the post in the back of the coil box, running under the base plate, and running through the slot cut in the front. Now I'm unsure how they're meant to reach the switch, as i see...

Re: 1919 Roadster Body Design?

Alright. Here’s what I think happened here. This was a 1919 that was found in a barn in Wisconsin. There is a birdshot blast in the back of the car. Given the time and place it would have been used, and the fact that it has japanning over the modifications, as well as the pickup modifications themse...

Re: 1919 Roadster Body Design?

Would I be able to get new production Roadster panels and make a proper cab myself, while keeping all the compatible existing parts I can?

Re: 1919 Roadster Body Design?

Okay, how should I go about making this into a proper-looking T? Should I make it back into a touring? Or should I replace the body parts for a rodaster?

1919 Roadster Body Design?

I bought a 1919 roadster recently. One I picked it up, I noticed some interesting details on the Body. The back of the cab seems to simply cut off, and there is a point on the side that looks like it was welded on. It also doesn’t seem to have spacers under the turtle trunk. These are old pictures, ...

Random part ID?

My Roadster came with a bunch of boxes of extracted/excess parts, I've managed to sort most of the rest but I still have no idea what these two are. Any help?

Need 1917-1919 Non-Starter Car Wiring Diagram

I have 1919 Roadster than needs a proper wiring diagram. I'm attempting to make my own, but the differences from other non-starter cars makes it a bit confusing, as I have a steering wheel mounted horn/light switch and a coil box ignition as well, and I need better references. Any graphics will do. ...
