This reminds me of a tool that was used on my Dad's 1949 Jeep Station about 1958 or so. It had the normal 6 cylinder flat head engine that had a rod bearing knocking a little. Here is my spin on this: I had a Farmall F-20 years ago. It was in good shape and my father had used it to mow his 20 acres for several years. What you say is true of course, but you have to realize that the molasses won't harm paint and if the item is oily or greasy, it won't cut through that coating to get to the rust.

Having said that, the stuff can get pretty nasty after it's used for a while.

I dislike these discussions. Often run past them and try to ignore them. Too many opinions, all too often bad ones, although in this thread so far there are mostly good opinions and several good and true facts given (thank you guys!). Poster location is gone

Why is the posters location no longer shown to the right of the post.

I always found it interesting as to where a person was located. Sure, a lot of them are common knowledge, but not all.

How come?

Who needs a drivers license? I read in the paper more and more of someone being stopped and arrested for never having gotten a drivers license. They are often in their 20's or even '30's. I just checked Rock Auto and they have one for a 65 Chevy C10 42 amp for $41 outright plus shipping. That's for a Delco rebuilt.
Regulator $17 to $41 depending on manufacturer. I used the sold state ones for the big truck alternators. They lasted forever and were adjustable for output.
