My vote is plain flat glass. Laminated glass is thinner and may break easier. I would also be concerned about the heat and the laminate.

Another comment about group numbers.

If a battery is manufactured with its terminals reversed, manufacturers may opt to add a letter to the group number.

Example, early Ford Mustangs were equipped with group 24F batteries so the positive terminal was in a better position from potential grounds.

Re: top for 1916 Touring

I put the last nails in my 1916’s Classtique top last night in time for the Old Car Festival. The top installed perfectly and I followed their on line videos and their printed instructions. Mike even worked with me to ensure the curtain fasteners matched the locations on the previous Carter top. I a...

Many columns are brazed there in addition to the rivets. You can accomplish the same results by shortening the top end and sliding the quadrant down. In either case, you will have redrill the control rods. I should also mention your photo shows a 26-7 column if you’re trying to make your pie wagon l...

You do not want waterproof.

The previous owner of my ‘41 Ford ruined the paint on the roof and trunk lid by covering the car with a waterproof cover. A breathable cover is a better option. I only cover my cars with light fabric and only when they are inside.

The Home Depot near me sells Rustoleum.

I too swear by the 2X.

They also sell a Rustoleum Automotive Black that seems to be thinner and higher gloss. I found that it does not do well when sprayed over the dried 2X. It does work well on the external high visibility items.

What is DEF? DEF is Diesel Emission Fluid, a mixture or urea and deionized water. It is injected into the exhaust system of newer diesel engines such as Ford’s PowerStroke engine. If the DEF tank is empty, the vehicle will not run because emissions are affected. The filler port for the DEF tank is a...

I will attempt to take some photos showing the differences this week. Using the front seat as an example, the wood pieces 655 and 603 will not fit on my late '26 Touring. Instead of wood, there are four stamped steel channels front and rear that fit the curve of the interior side panels. While the c...

Re: Do 26/7 touring seats have a wood frame?

Fordwood.com has a copyrighted illustration showing all the wood pieces in your ‘26 Touring body. The ‘26 body uses more tacking wood than a ‘27. On a ‘27, the side upholstery panels slide into steel C-channels whereas the panels are tacked into the wood pieces in the ‘26.

When it comes time to order upholstery make sure you state that you will be crimping the upholstery to the seat cushions as original. In one case I did not and received seat covers set up for hog ring installation.

I wonder how that machine is licensed and titled. Since it has four wheels, it's no longer a motorcycle as far as Michigan is concerned. I'm guessing other states are similar.

I'm hoping that axle doesn't make it a 1923 Ford.
