Yes, the plug cuts off all the passages, so the oil has to stay in each well when installed.

Does anybody have any information on this cover plate TAPLATE 1923-1924? It is designed to drain all the wells of oil, so no old oil is left in the wells.

Does the lower engine speed with an overdrive make the engine last longer, or is that negated by the engine having to work harder? I look at it like this, a motor rebuild is like $3000 to $5000, a Muncie gear box is like $200 to $400. Which one would I rather save on repairs. The gear box saves the...

In my opinion, if the TT rearend part is good (IN SPECIFICATIONS), they should all be saved. I am trying to save as many as possible, especially the Ruckstell TT rearend pieces. My goal in the future is to rebuild them and have them for sale. Also to keep parts on hand for future generations to buy....

I run both a Muncie 3 speed gear box with overdrive, straight through, underdrive, and reverse with a Ruckstell rearend. That makes a faster truck and a very good parade truck. I think the reason why Ford had so many different and odd sizes of pistons, is that you could hone your cylinder to a piston size instead of boring it. That would easier to do especially if you didn't have a boring machine. I did that with one motor I had. Also that would make sense for motors found...

I have all my information in a plastic zip lock bag. Then I place it under the middle of the floor mat, front or back seat area. Stays nice and flat that way. In the TT truck it, is under the seat in the side areas.

Mike, Ruckstells are more "likely" to have high gear sets in them, but not always. I also have found them in standard rear ends (found two so far in five rear ends). What I do if I am at an auction or inspecting one, is I will turn the input shaft and count the turns to see what type it is.
