Nice thread on this speedster. I think I have a Morton and Brett aluminum windshield frame. Alvin Townsend very graciously cast and machined one for me about 7-8 years ago. If I recall correctly he told me that it was the last one he would do if he found the time. About a year have he told me this I...

In my opinion Scott replies with educated, logical, non-emotional opinions based on real experience. I know I can take it or leave it and I imagine he is just fine with that.

Re: Sediment bulb position
I totally agree with Scott on the Permatex. I can attest to the slow leaking with the use of Teflon tape with petroleum based products, especially gasoline. Aviation mechanics have been advocates for the Permatex “gooey” gas and oil resistant product for decades. It can be messy to apply with its li...

Differential issue, any ideas?
I was driving my 1915 yesterday. All going very well until I lost power to the rear wheels. Car basically free wheeled with no resistance. I brought it to a stop with auxiliary brakes, no problem. Pulled to my shop. Jacked up rear axle so both wheels off the ground assuming I may have sheared an axl...

Availability update: I have supplies on hand to build 25-30x3.5 McLaren wire wheels at the price of $825 each. My spoke supplier, foundry, and machinist providers have notified me of price increases that are not inconsequential. That said I will have to increase prices once my current stock of compo...

Re: Seeking those who may need TW Rect. brush
Tim,
What is the composition and dimensions of these brushes. I purchased a bunch of stuff from an elderly old car enthusiast. In one of the wooden cigar boxes there were some rectangular graphite blocks in unused condition. They are free floating and not attached to any wiring.

Re: For Sale-new wire wheels
More information: McLaren wire wheels do not require special hubs or locking caps. They simply use a set of good usable Model T front and rear wood wheel hubs stripped of all their wood, bolts, and faceplate. These hubs are readily available and provided by the customer. I provide all of the hardwar...

For Sale-new wire wheels
I am taking orders for new McLaren wire wheels with free delivery to Hershey or any location along the way from Iowa to Hershey. I currently have all of the components in stock so fulfilling orders without delay is not an issue. UPS is currently charging over $60 per wheel so this is great way to ge...

Re: Fake one piece pan patch panel
About a year ago I facilitated a restoration that put me in direct contact with one of the reproduction Ron Brown pans. It was still wrapped in the shipping cardboard from Ron. Thought we had located a nice piece in preparation of a nice rebuild. Well now for the “rest of the story”. Rebuild was com...

McLaren Wire Wheels
I am restocked with just enough components to build 25 new McLaren Wire Wheels. These are the last that I will be able to offer without having to raise prices dramatically. As we all know it has been a very big challenge to get clincher rims. I can produce 30x3.5 and a limited number of 30x3 clinche...

Re: Brass era Schrader tire tube stem covers F/S
I concur with Larry. The correct nut has inner and outer threads. The inside threads thread onto the brass stem and the outside threads thread into the valve cover threads. The nut is generally round with vertical unidirectional knurling. When the covers are nickel plated they are usually very nice ...
