A finished, complete car will always be cheaper than a project in the long run, if it's done to your specs. But some of us have more fun bringing a pile of junk back to life than driving someone else's dream. Also, when you are challenged for funds the pile looks more appealing

Had that happen to a small block chevy, mud dauber right down the double pumper. My bad, stored without an air filter. My bad again, kept cranking, trying to start until some of it got sucked in and locked a piston. Had to pull the head.

Well if your time is worth about $5 per hour I guess it makes sense compared with the cost of a new manifold. While you have a plug or two out checking spark prime the cylinder with some fuel, put it back in and try to start. If it sputters then you know the extra fuel helps. Worked for me!

Throw an old chain or some nuts and bolts, gravel in that tank with the rust remover. You can shake it from time to time to get some abrasion with the chemical strip.

Citri strip is said to work good, EZ off oven cleaner does the job. Either way or something else the key is to try a little first, vary the sitting time and find what works best on what you are removing and the make up of the paint you are trying to keep. My rivets came off easily with an air chisel and sharp tool. Bolted the new one on as I wasn't up to beating rivets on a finished car. Should I use the 600 wt tar-like gear oil for an aux trans or will 140 wt be ok? Is it best to start the car in gear or can I get to high or low after it's running? Helps having a true neutral starting a cold car in cold weather, don't have to get the jack out

I use any motor oil which usually means 0 or 5w something, which really runs thru fast. I bet the bar oil works good tho.

Need to make or get a proper adapter for my compression gauge the one I made works for leakdown but bypasses the check valve on the gauge. Get some actual numbers tho I already know there are no major leakdowns.

After pulling the timing cover I can positively, absolutely guarantee that the timing mark on the cam gear coincides with the groove marked ford, and the timer roller is pointing directly towards #1 when it is at tdc compression. As no. 1 piston travels down the intake valve opens. bottom of the stroke the intake valve closes, compression builds. At TDC the coil rattles off a healthy spark to no. 1 plug. What is the oil level in a Warford? I filled my cast iron 2 speed to the bottom of the oil fill hole and it leaks out the plug with the cotter pin. Did I put too much in or do I have a significant leak?
