Just curious, does the ring line up perfectly with the flywheel? Is there a "lip" anywhere on the ring/flywheel where they join together that overlaps one another? If not, I would think Mr Bell is correct about the lathe. If not then added at the factory(?)

Yep, that's it. Slips OVER the O.D. of the carb opening. That is why I had to modify with a notch and recurve the choke lever. Not too shabby, but the one I have referred you guys to is a smaller profile and no need for a pipe. I have mine angled towards the hogshead. I should mention I have a Kingston carb on mine and it fits nice. I don't know if all carb openings are the same dimension.

Word to the wise, the magnets are a safety feature to keep the triple gear pins from backing out. You should have a collar in the place of the magnets. Dan McEarchen makes them.

Don't over think it! Not everyone has access to torches, welders or cash! But me personally, I would not use JB weld to fill in the gap. I've always relied on "Mother Necessity". Even if you are not handy, this shouldn't be that difficult. Any way you can, (w/o crimping/denting) bend that lip upward...

Correct me if I am wrong, maybe an optical illusion from the angle or the way the picture was taken but, on the gasket edge of the pan (in the area of the pan ear) is it curved/bent downward instead of being flat/straight?

I would first drain the oil from the engine and after the leak fully stops, take some brake/carb cleaner to the area and get it fully cleaned all around the WHOLE area and then some and if you have an air compressor blow around the area/ear. Distributor cap is from a 1988 Honda Civic. Cap part #JH95 and rotor part #JR72. The points are part #JP13P. Set points .020 - .025. Did the distributor come off your T, or are you going to install it?

If you have taken out the magnets, do you need a bolted washer or custom collar behind the triple gear pins, even though they are pressed in? Or is this just a precautionary measure to keep them from backing out, and not mandatory? P.S. How come I have a bad gut feeling?
