Re: Getting back to my T
Okay I will be going to the tractor supply to get some paint stripper later today. I do have the original style roller timer. I will fiddle around with it a little today. I will also be taking off the carburetor and clean it in some carb parts cleaner for good measure too. I will also be resharpenin...

Haha that’s great. They’re really good engines with a lot of power. The MDS system is its only major downfall causing all the cam and lifter issues. They’re very reliable but most of all they’re fun. I have no problem breaking it loose. Hell it would probably still be able to break loose while going...

Re: Getting back to my T
The engine was restored in the early 90s before it was put up. The engine probably barely has 10 hours since it was rebuilt. It was bored out to 0.60 over and has new pistons and what looks to be a fresh cam and gears. It was probably rebabbited and the rods look like they could be new. The rods als...

I am finally getting back to my Model T. The plan with this truck is to drop it just a little and have a sort of muscle truck so I believe this cam is perfect. It’s a ram 1500 so it isn’t the greatest at towing anything anyways and the most I’ll probably ever tow with it is my 18.5’ bass boat. Muscle truck is what I’m going for. And yes th...

T’s with Ruckstell and Warford
I have recently picked up a Ruckstell axle for my 26 TT that already has its frame extended and a cast Warford installed. I have a shift lever that mounts to the back of the Hogshead and in this configuration I can see that there may be a little interference with the Warford. The frame is extended s...

Re: Taking the Driveshaft off of a TT Ruckstell
Thanks for the suggestion on the book. Also, thanks for alerting me to the dangers of taking the ruckstell apart but I am not going to take it all the way apart. First of all, the person in my T club I got it from said that it was in great working order and that he got it from a guy who was chopping...

Re: Taking the Driveshaft off of a TT Ruckstell
Ok. Now I have one last problem. Me being not so smart accidentally made the roller bearings fall out of their sleeves when I was pulling the torque tube. I am able to get one seated at a time but not the other. Is there an easy way to get them back in. Pardon my stupidity. Thanks, Jacob Mangold

Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to take the pins out of the connecting shaft so I can take off the driveshaft itself?

Re: Transmission Bands
I did watch the video. Getting the bands perfect doesn’t seem that hard but I do not have and extra drum to for off of nor do I have a vice. Another think I do not like about the wood bands is the ways you put in the rivets. You have to countersink them in.

Re: Transmission Bands
Honestly, I would prefer cotton linings but they are hard to find. If Chaffins has them, I will buy them. The cotton linings are easiest to install and are probably the most affordable. If not, I guess I will go with wood because I do not want to destroy my drums. I don’t have enough trust in myself...

Re: Transmission Bands
I talked to people in my T club and I think that I will probably settle for the Kevlar bands. They seem like a better investment even though they cost more. Just so I know, what should I avoid in order to keep my drums from cracking when I install the bands.

Thank you guys for all of your responses. I just have 1 more question. How hard is it to rivet the wood to the bands? Transmission Bands
I recently took my Truck for a drive and it went pretty well. The brakes didn’t work very well so the next day I opened up the inspection door to adjust the brake but there was a ton of lint in my trap. I have Scandinavia bands that are about 30 years old. I’ve heard that they tend to deteriorate. W...

Re: Taking the Driveshaft off of a TT Ruckstell
Well I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I was able to remove the torque tube and locate the pins to take the driveshaft off. The bad news is that I could not seem to get it off but worse of all, pulling on the torque tube caused both of the inner roller bearings to come o...

Re: One Step Closer to Getting Her on the Road
Today I took off the rear wheels to tighten the spokes and adjust my parking brake so that can at least stop me now. I also sanded, stained, and, sealed the bed. I really like the grain and weathering that the final product had. It exceeded my expectations how good it came out looking. Just a little...

Ok, that was a big help. The ruckstell that I have is currently on the ground with the driveshaft, torque tube, radius rods, and the U joint. How do you take the driveshaft off of a TT Ruckstell? I took off all the bolts and removed the rear cap and main bolt holding the worm gear. I need to remove the worm gear, right? Any help is appreciated.

Finally took her out today. Only pushed it to about 15 mph because I virtually had no brakes. I need to adjust it. It had no problems except that it stalled when I put it into over. I don’t think I gave it enough gas but otherwise it was a nice short drive.

Re: help figuring out what this key number is
When I first got my car, I ordered a repro key from Snyders and it did not turn in my key way. I took the back of the ignition off and used graphite and pushed the key in and out a couple times and then blew the keyway out with compressed air. Rinse and repeat until you are able to get the key to tu...

1924 TT C Cab
I recently found pictures of a 1924 TT C Cab that belonged to my great grandfather and the back of the truck looks different than any C cab I’ve ever seen. Instead of having an oval ring around the rear window, it has a diamond ring. The body looks like a Ford body except for the back of it. Was thi...

I was thinking about that as well. I might have to do some fabrication because my frame was also extended for the Warford. I will have to see and example from someone else who has both of them on their TT.

I Finally got her to move after 25+ years of sitting around. I adjusted the handbrake a bit and now she goes into gear beautifully. The Warford sounds great when it’s under load. It’s a lot quieter than I had expected but then again, I did not drive it fully. I just drove around my backyard to repar...

Thank you Tom. Really any shifter that mounts to the u joint bolts should be able to work. I recently acquired a TT ruckstell for my truck and I want to open it up and figure out what I need to replace. Thanks for clarifying. I’m getting everything ready to put on the correct Hogshead for my transmission soon. I have a Warford and my truck so it has the crossmember that holds the driveshaft, transmission, and aux transmission up and should helps with supporting the 4 dip pan.

Re: 23 tranny on a 26 block?
Just to add a little to this. You can't use a late H/H with a early trans as the short brake band will not line up with the short drum. You can use the early H/H on a late pan & trans but must use the narrow band. The late H/H will not fit the early engine without a late pan & trans and you will ne...
