Re: Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
I got the rear oil lamp installed and dig the look! Only issue now is I need to find a place for the license plate. I’m planning to buy a set of California 1924 YOM plates and might just stick the plate inside the lower edge of the rear window. Will post an update on the side cowl lamps if and when ...

Sorry to disapoint you Jeremy, but the deed has been done, you are easy prey now for any model T that crosses your path. You are allready considering to buy an extra T to complete your set of lamps, you are lost my friend ! Welcome to the affliction as they say ! Oh and don't go to the AA, model A'...

Re: Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
You might consider fabricating some sort of mount for the lights that had an oversize "foot" or mounting pad shaped to the contour of the cowl area where the lights need to be located. If it had a few square inches of surface area formed to make close contact with the cowl, it could be bonded in pl...

Re: Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
Good point TXGOAT2, I’ll take that into consideration. I wish someone made some lower hinge brackets for these oil lamps which would make it a completely reversible modification. If nothing else, I have a nice set of vintage Model T keep lamps. Maybe I’ll look for an earlier T to add in the future…I...

Re: Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. I’ll think it over some more and probably won’t mount the cowl lamps if it involves drilling the body. I do like the idea of replacing the single circular tail lamp with the oil lamp, though. I’ll play around with ideas as soon as the lamps arrive and foll...

Re: Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
This picture is similar to what I’m thinking. Those brackets are available from the suppliers, but I don’t know if they’ll work on a 24 closed car. Doubtful, but I’m open to suggestions

Oil Side & Tail Lamps on 24 Fordor
I just bought some nice vintage kerosene oil side lamps that I’m considering installing on my 24 Fordor. Is there a set of brackets I can buy to mount these to the cowl or windshield frame somehow? I’m hesitant to drill holes in the car, but would love the look of the side lamps on my closed car. I ...

OK, I’ll Google ballast resistors and see if I can find one. ThanksJerry VanOoteghem wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:14 amAs a complete "wild a$$ guess", I would try putting an ignition ballast resistor in-line with the power wire.

Re: Which battery horn is this on my 24 T?
Wanted to follow up and provide and update on my Klaxon 8c horn. I disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted the horn and now it works great, even on 12v. It does spin a little fast and doesn’t sound perfect, so I’d like to installed a resister to lower the voltage to 6v. Does anyone have a lin...

Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
Jeremy, I noted your order of new mirrors from Langs. They are nicely made, having a chromed mounting arm and stainless steel head, but they will stand out! My Tudor came with them, and I was not happy with their "newness". I found a pair of 1960's chrome plated heads to attach to the arms. With 50...

Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
The choice is yours, of course, but the wiper handle on a ‘24, closed car would have been nickel plated. Keep us posted as to where you get the material, how you make the sleeve and how you install it. It would be a nice ending to this thread. Jim Patrick Good point Jim. It's only the knob that's b...

Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
From all of the very helpful responses here, I now understand why the sleeve is needed on the Fordor and will find an appropriate sleeve at the hardware store or online to make the Lang's wiper with brass handle work on my 24 Fordor. I don't ever plan on driving this car in the rain, so the wiper wi...

I found a picture online of a Fordor that may help. Being black, it is a little hard to see, but if you look hard, you can see the sleeve. You can enlarge the picture with your fingers on the screen. Re: Which battery horn is this on my 24 T?
Thanks all, this does look like a vintage 20s Klaxon Klaxet horn! The horn works fine on 12v and makes a decent sound and I didn't notice any smoke when activating it in the garage. I guess some of these horns were originally wired for 6v and others for 12v...I don't know which one this is since the...

Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
OK, so a brass sleeve for the wiper shaft to rotate in, got it. I'll MacGyver something as I don't want the shaft just spinning freely in the frame hole. If anyone has any close-up pictures of a wiper installed with sleeve, feel free to share them. I also ordered the Lang's chrome side hinge mirrors...

Thanks everyone for the great advice; I can already see this forum is full of great Model T owners willing to help others out. Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
Great questions and I’d like to know the answers as well! How does one go about extending the shaft on the wiper that Langs sells to make it work on a closed car? Has anyone done this and is there a write up or pictures anywhere? Otherwise, if someone has a nice period correct looking hand wiper tha...

Re: Which battery horn is this on my 24 T?
Thanks guys. I’ll search for a nice 12v ahooga horn and bracket and swap it out and keep this old one with the car. I’m planning to leave the car on 12v and replace all bulbs and upgrade the starter and generator to units internally rebuilt for 12v. The magneto does work, but I’m going to run the ca...

Which battery horn is this on my 24 T?
Looking for a replacement cover for this battery horn in my 1924 Fordor. Is it a klaxon horn and is it 6V or 12V? The previous owner stuck a 12v battery in the car and this blew every light bulb in thr car. Will running the horn on 12v also burn it out or is it safe on 12v? The horn makes the ahooga...

Re: Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
Thanks Jim, then I’ll install a new hand crank wiper using the hole closest to the driver’s window if I can find one that fits my Fordor. What are T owners filling the extra holes with? Perhaps, some JB Weld and then sanded down smooth and painted black? Still looking for reference pictures of hand ...

Hand Windshield Wiper for 1924 Fordor
Hi All, I'm looking for a manual windshield wiper for my 1924 Model T Fordor. There are three holes above the glass and I'm not clear what's supposed to go into each hole or where to source a proper wiper assembly. If anyone has any reference pictures of a 1924 closed car with an original or nice af...
