Re: Quick Poly?

A wheel that needs repaired to be drivable should be rebuilt properly, a repair with 'Quick Poly' or other so-called wood-rot-stoppers is only acceptable for static display.
Driving with "Fixed" wheels is going to get you or others hurt, don't do it.

Hey Dennis, i am not aware of any tests done but guys running without magnets report a somewhat 'snappier' engine (i.e. quicker responding to the throttle) but a loss of smoothness pulling away from standstill and/or transition from low to high gear. All of which is easily explained by the removal o...

Re: OT - Adventures of Kalamity Dick - Fact or Fiction?

Carefree days? WURST ! Have you seen those scrawny thin 'Frankfurters' that the former President Taft is peddling for the princely sum of 5 cents, that is 5 CENTS ! That is a Ripoff if ever there was one, goes to show he did not change his ways much after leaving 'The Office' HAH ! And it would not ...

Here you'll find a short article about what is claimed to be 'the first built for leisure caravan' , it still exists today and was restored a couple years ago.
The workmanship and the interior are unbelievable ! ;

Re: This was trucking-Old Photos

That is a great truck, but what caught my eye is how ornate the Heinz factory buildings are, that took some serious time and money to build em that fancy. Today its all about efficiency and that is why industrial areas all are filled with the same big square boxes, i wish companies would spend some ...

Seems you ruled out all other possibilities and the coils are the culprits, although coils tend to like a little more than 12V, the car should run decent on battery. Check all contacts, check the coil box for carbon trails (there was a recent post on that, https://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?...

Recovering from head injuries is a three steps forward, one step back kind of process, we're all thinking about him.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Jason, the aviation EZ lube is designed specific for lubrication of fuel system components and won't dissolve in gasoline, soap does the same, used it to fix leaking valves on everything from bikes to trucks, even made a temporary fix once on a carb float that had a small leak, just smeared the litt...

What i understand from your story is that the car ran fine on the True fire, the car ran fine too on the first regular timer and coils you installed for the first ten minutes or so, and when you changed out the timer for another known good timer kept missing some beats. Sounds to me like a fuel prob...

The picture of the TT and trailer full of Jackrabbits reminds me of a rather grim story from my youth, I was a member of a glider club from when i was about 13 years old, it must have been around 1974 when there was a terrible infestation of rabbits, the grass airfield was one big pothole, which mad...

Frank, the story about the mahogany is that the firm had large stocks on hand, which in those days was sound practice, as you could control the drying and aging of the wood better, and suply from the French colonies took some time. Later in the war Kellner had trouble keeping enough wood in stock be...

Here'sthe third picture of the Kellner works in Paris with bodies being built around 1916, The last picture is of a convoy of early (1915?) chassis, presumably from the harbour in Le Havre to the workshop of Kellner in Paris. The Kellner bodies were built from Mahogany, so definitely not from packin...

The first 15 Ford ambulances were ordered through the Paris Ford dealer as chassis, Henry Ford was still very much opposed to delivering for the war in Europe, but allowed individual dealers to sell chassis for 'humanitarian use'. Below is a photo of the assembling of one of these first 15 chassis i...

Ah yes a Lloyd, they are not uncommon over here, 'zee Dzjermans' built quite a lot of those little cars in the late forties and fifties, they were about all one could afford to buy, and gas was still 'on stamps' after the war so small engines were the thing back then. The german term for these was '...

Ah the exploding plastic fan, the idea that plastics were forever was planted in the '50s, plastics are not forever as we now know, and some plastic deteriorates faster than others. The main reason plastics (or more accurately polymers) lose their strength and flexibility is not so much the aging of...
