Man that’s a lot of work and it still might weld itself together just relying on the spring. I’d use it to power a ford type starter relay hidden under the floor. You could use low voltage to power thenrelay or even use it to complete a ground to activate it. Nice work though.

Check the ignition timing just to be sure. As to a stuck or leaking valve: DO NOT PULL THE HEAD. You need to do a compression test to really see what's going on inside the engine. A dry then wet test will indicate the rings and the valves condition. Pulling the head before you do this will tell you ...

Is there an external ignition resistor or does the coil have an internal resistor in it? If it’s external you’ll usually have a white porcelain like block in the circuit. Re: Want to make a boot for 23 Touring

I used brown craft paper for my pattern. Did it years ago it worked great. Lightly taped the parts together to get a good fit and transferred it to some Naugahyde I had. Stapled it together inside out at first to check the fit then sewed it up. Sorry no existing pics but it was really OK.

Question: I’m in N.J. Exactly where would I have to ship my block for babbit replacement and what would the approximate cost be including one of the later cranks?

Re: Flushing old oil?

I’ll assume that motor flush in a can might not harm a T engine because of the non pressurized oil system but I wouldn’t use it in a modern. Saw the result of this years ago when a friend dumped a can of it into his mustang. Some bit of junk got lose and made the pressure regulator in the oil pump u...

They had by far the best catalog years back and I too had a bit of a fiasco way back involving coil point sets. That was the only time I ordered from them. Pre Eckler.

Re: DIY Coil Rebuilding

As a former buzz box proponent I can tell you for a fact that by ear and almost there is a load of bunk. The first time I had my home rebuilt coils properly set up was unbelievable. The car started cold with the hand crank on mag for the first time since I owned it. The performance was a major impro...

Re: Safe long-distance driving… how do they do it?

Going through towns and cities can’t be helped and I’ll absolutely guarantee they are being hounded by those without time to spare. Wether real or imagined. Lightly inhabited back roads are a different story simply because nobody’s there. I had the three worst experiences driving a T (oddly enough) ...

Quite used. Not ruined. In fair shape. Laughed out loud when the seller said they’re so small. I’m guessing about 12” or so long X maybe 3/4 or 7/8” wide. The ends are slightly curved. Of course no markings.

Re: no starting: no compression

Want to tell exactly why the engine has low compression? It’s really simple. You did a dry comp test now do a wet one. A couple of shots of oil into the cylinder the check compression in that cylinder. If it goes up it’s rings if it doesn’t it’s usually valves. Now you know what’s wrong. No speculat...

No good reason to do the wet test first. Most posting here insisting on a warm engine test are ignoring a possible answer to hard cold starting.
