ONE and the big one: looks like someone spaced the hubs outward on the spindles! More leverage on the spindle means more likely to break!
Two: appears to be a Chevrolet 490 axle and suspension but there is no drop in the axle center. Early or ??

That is not an "offset " spindle as the centerline of the wheel bearings intersects the centerline of the kingpin. Cutting off the end of the ball is sometimes done when using a ball bearing 4th main ( supports the end of the transmission at the rear of the engine pan).

AH YES! I see how they will work to help heat the intake manifold. The seller led me astray by calling them "valve covers" and selling them in pairs when only one is used per car!

To answer your original question......Here is how it was done back then. Since they interfere with a camshaft in the cylinder block these were intended to only be used under a overhead cam setup.

Have you tried the old trick of loosening the axle nut to where there is a small gap behind it, put the cotter pin back in and go for a short drive. It often becomes loose!

Am thinking 1915-1922 are the same both sides but 1923-25 have 2 elongated holes at the forward end to bolt to splash apron so are left and right.
1914 have factory holes and special teardrop shaped diamonds for carbide generator mounting.

If you go down steep hills you should use your engine compression as much as possible to assist the Model T's brakes. That means as much spark retard as possible, no vacuum advance and no centrifugal advance only plain old manual!
