That appears to be something to replace the input shaft on the front end of a A trans which would let it bolt to the back of a T trans. Not sure what would go from there other than if you wanted an aux three speed.

South Wind heaters do not leave gas fumes in the car. They work by vac which pulls the burnt gas back into the intake. Without vac they will not work because there would be nothing to pull the raw gas in. The fume thing is an old wives tale.

The Ruckstell low is a geared down Ford ratio so when you are in low range you are going slower than a std ford gear. I am referring to both low and high on the transmission. So when going down a hill that you need extra hold back power, use the R low range.

Be sure the gas is turned on first, there is a lever on top of the firewall filter that turns the gas on and off. Do choke it, when it starts and smooths out leave the needle where it runs best. You adjust it by turning the choke rod. The vap will give you good service.

Re: Quick Look at '27 Engine Pull
The low high pedal is pinned on the shaft with a rivet. Grind head off the rivet and drive it out. You can then work the pedal off. Lots of places (Cat dealers, Rural King, Tractor supply and most any bolt supply house) have grade 8 fine thread 5/16 bolts. I drilled the hole to match a 5/16 bolt, th...

Re: Quick Look at '27 Engine Pull
I pull my late engines by hooking toward the front so the engine comes out nearly standing up on its rear. It will come out complete without the starter. I do pull the coilbox as a matter on convenience. If you want to make it even easier, put a grade 8 bolt in where the low high pedal is so you can...

Re: Rear main cap removal advice
It can be done and does require patience. IMHO the fix is determining first what the gap is before pulling the cap then after the cap is pulled, make a c shaped brass wear plate the correct thickness and pin it to the cap with countersunk brass screws. I speak from experience and have one of my Ts f...

Re: And now, for something entirely different !
If the pic is correct then the steering appears to be on the left side (USA type), the pitman arm is visible and also there appears not to be any emerg. brake rods. I agree the seat position would be relative to that side window.

A listing of the part numbers would be a help. If the tools are not Z tools, they are not special.

Great story Steve, that pic of the touring body being installed is a new one to me. Do not believe I have seen in in any of the reference books.

Re: Where did you discover your Model T?
I found my first T in 59 near my uncle's house in Macon GA. My dad and I made a deal with the owner and we drove down from Knoxville TN in the 48 F6 with a load of manure for my uncle's garden, bought the 21 T touring, drove it to a service sta. put it on the lift and backed the truck up to the lift...

Re: Ruckstell linkage
Tom, It is my opinion that the midship support extends life of the shifter mech. on the rear end. Seems like most of the used ones need repair when you find them and I suspect they were run with no midship support on the rod. That may be something to consider when fabing a shift rod.

If you separate out the normal rear end parts and service in the example above, the Ruxtell end of the job was relatively minor. Stan makes a good point also.

Re: Ruxtell Advice Requested
If its an original then IMHO its worth more. Usually the sun gear pins are wore out, thrust washer pins sheared and special bearing needs replacing along with what ever needs to be done with the stock pinion bearing. $300.00 worth of parts or so. That special bearing is the most expensive item. I am...

Interesting spare tire rack made from a touring rear mt. I had a T in Hawaii that had an identical rig.

Steve, I use the band clamp sold by Langs and it works fine. After lots of use it began to spring out a little and I just bent it back it. I would recommend getting one.

Harold, its not just the compression but equally important is the combustion chamber. Z heads have a combustion chamber that is much like the one Ford settled on for the Model A to increase its performace.

It would be of great help to you if you obtained a basic library of Model T reference books such as a copy of the Service Bulletins, The factory repair manual, parts book and possibly a copy of Bruce McCally's model T book. You can never have enough reference material. All the vendors carry these pu...
